The Frost Interview

The Frost Interview

Christian and Leah from The Frost Interviewed by Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

TF: We consider ourselves multi-genred. When we play live, we will do covers of our favorite songs which can range from rock tunes to jazz tunes.

We write what we feel. Lately some of the songs we have been working on have a country and southern sound to them.

Our current hit “Be Ok” is completely 100% acoustic. It gives off a southern sound.

Our newest release, “Gotta Live Fast,” coming to multiple platforms on September 28 has a heavy outlaw and rock n roll vibe.

PD: Tell us a brief history of yourself.

TF: We started off as a duo that played cocktail music in a Restuarant close to home. We really liked performing and wanted to do more, so we started incorporating rock, pop and country into our mix.

PD: Who are your musical and non musical influences?

Christian: I absolutely love Steely Dan, The Outfield, George Benson. Those guys are the reason I wanted to pick up a guitar and learn.

Leah: Stevie Nicks is one of my musical influences.

Non musical? I would have to say Psychiatrist Carl Jung. I studied psychology in college and I agreed with a lot of his theories.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

TF: Our dreams and goals are to play whatever makes people happy, and make music that people can not only enjoy but feel. When we say feel, we mean it really touches them. They can relate to it.

PD: Who writes your music and what are your songs about?

TF: We write our own music. Sometimes we sit down and write together, other times one of us writes a song for the group.

Our songs are about life experiences. Heartache, strange encounters, random thoughts.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

TF: We promote through our Facebook and Instagram. You can follow us @thefrostduo on both platforms. We also try to go by word of mouth.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

TF: It’s good and bad. There’s less value in music I think because there’s nothing physical about a download. Did u ever get joy out of owning a cd by your favorite artist? I feel like the joy wears off quicker when u just hit “buy”.

On the contrary, it’s convenient. If you buy a song online, you can blast it through your car because of blootooth and you don’t have to worry about losing  a cd, it breaking or skipping. It’s on your phone forever.

PD: What song do you wish you had written?

TF: I think we can both agree we wish we wrote “Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac. The entire album that song came off of is still charting today. It’s timeless and incredible.

PD: What are your pet peeves?

TF: Pet Peeves? Hmm. That’s a tough one. We’re pretty easy going.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

TF: We’ve had a lot of proud moments, particularly this year. From getting to play at a club we wanted to play for a long time in Manhattan, to being invited to the Josie Music Awards(one of the largest independent awards in the world), to finally beginning to release our own music worldwide. We’re proud this year.

I’d say our proudest moment was hearing one of our songs, “Be Ok” hit FM radio stations, and most recently, being in the top 10 on a station in Australia.

We want people from all over to hear our music and relate to it, so knowing it’s in heavy rotation like that really hit home and meant to so much to us.

PD: So what are you working o at this moment?

TF: Were cleaning up quite a few songs we plan on releasing. There’s an album in the works for sure. Most recently, we finished a single that will be available worldwide on Itunes, Spotify, etc. on September 28, it’s called “Gotta Live Fast.” If you like outlaw country and rock n roll, I think you’ll love this.

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

TF: Our next shows will be held in East Stroudsburg PA and Binghamton NY. The audiences really like variety, which is good because we do to!

We’re bound to play something you love, so if you’re in the area check us out!
