The Cryptics – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
TC: A band?
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
TC: The Cryptics. 2008. Dover, NH. USA.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

TC: Ramones, R.E.M., T.S.O.L., Wipers, Dead Kennedys, Bad Religion, Descendents, Pennywise, Zounds, Integrity, Joy Division. Something like that. Oh and the movies Clue and Bloodsport.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
TC: Right now, for there to be an 18-pack of Seventh Generation toilet paper for less than $50.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
TC: Me. They’re all about oil changes. Synthetic vs. standard and the benefits of making the change. The 5W-30 EP should be out next spring, following last year’s TC-W3 2-Stroke Outboard LP.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
TC: A big mix of digital and physical.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
TC: People are largely past that. Everyone’s streaming. It’s increasingly hard to get through to people. There’s a high probably I should fuck myself.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
TC: Driver 8. It’s my exact taste in riffs and just so well done. Melodic, dark. God damn, I can’t even think about it because it’s too good.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
TC: Pets.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
TC: That’s a TBA.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
TC: There’s nothing we are not working on, ever.
PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
TC: No shows for anyone in world for quite a minute right now.
