The Cazales

The Cazales – ‘Bugbear’

Released Friday 13th May 2022

Hailing from Wrexham, North Wales, indie rock five-piece The Cazales are in a fortunate enough position to be able to take influence from the music scenes of both Manchester and Liverpool. The result is both a timeless and timely hybrid of indie through the ages, resulting in an aesthetic that’s equal parts swagger and melody.

Having taken their own brand of idiosyncratic indie rock on the road, playing for national promoters such as Scruff of the Neck, and supporting major names such as The Primitives and The Peach Fuzz, not to mention festivals such as Focus Wales and Manchester’s R Fest, it’s clear that the five lads from North Wales have been making the right moves, and turning the right heads. Indeed, their previous single ‘The Narrative’ succeeded in earning the band praise from industry tastemakers such as RGM.

And if their latest single ‘Bugbear’ is anything to go by, it looks set to do much the same. Three and a half minutes of searing and soaring indie rock, it’s easily the band’s heaviest single to date. Mining a rich vein of indie rock heritage and combining it with elements of light psychedelia, the result is a track that feels both claustrophobic, and somewhat liberating.

Though coming just three months after the previous single, the step up between the two is nothing short of impressive, and you can guarantee you’ll be hearing alot more from The Cazales over the coming months.
