Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
TA: Indie/synthpop band, with 80’s influences.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
TA: It all started in 2019, three of us (George, Brian and Sen) knew eachother from high school and decided to start a band. The only thing missing was a synth player (Rashid), then we found out he had these excellent vocals and made him our lead singer as well. From then on we haded into the studio and started recording some demo’s. On the first night we wrote You & I, and we loved the synthpop direction, so many songs followed.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
TA: Musically, mainly the sound of the eighties. Furthermore we go down different routes per mand member. For instance; Rsahid listens to a lot of Arcade Fire, The Strokes and MGMT. Sen loves dutch alternative band DE STAAT. Brian digs everything poppy, from Wallows to Taylor Swift and Geroge has a strange affiliation with TOTO.
For non-musical influence we have a quite range of strange influences depending on what kind of video’s we are addicted to at the moment. We had a period where we watched a lot of Qucee, which is this Dutch guy who eats a lot of expensive stuff.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
TA: To get douze points from Australia at the EUROVISION SONG CONTEST.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
TA: Our songs are about (robot)women, booze and Killer Whales. We all sit down with a whiteboard and write songs with the four of us.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
TA: We started making songs right when COVID-19 came. We could not do shows, so we mainly focus on online promotion via numerous blogs and social media platforms, who hopefully love our songs.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
TA: We think downloading is a bit out of date nowadays, because of all the streaming platforms, at least here in The Netherlands.
PD: What song do you whish you’d written and why?
TA: Kids – MGMT, one of the greatest synth anythems ever written.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
TA: None of our pets are named Peeves.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
TA: Reaching place 16 in the IndieXL chart for now, maybe we’ll rise maybe we’ll drop.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
TA: We are working on an album coming to you this year!
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
TA: On the 12th of February our fourth single “Would You?” will be released, on every streaming platform and on YouToube with a nice Film Noir style clip.
