Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?
TP: Terror Parade is a Shock Sock Horror Punk band
The music is horror themed with references to horror movies and all things scary.
We focus on giving our audiences a full show we want it to be as visually exciting as well musically exciting.
PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.
TP: We are Brisbane based all members have had a passion to play music from young age playing in various bands and styles of music which gives the band a broad range of influences from Rock ,Punk,Metal, and Japanese Viual Kei
PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?
TP: The bands co song writer Madman is heavily influenced by Marilyn Manson, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Mitsfits, Wednesday 13 .
The underlining music is Punk based Goth but when Zichxyna co writer puts her extreme Vocals on the music it becomes the sound of Terror Parade.
PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?
TP: As a band we have aspirations to release as much music as possible and to play some large outdoor festivals.
We just want to have longevity and to be a band the always gives 100% to everything we do.
PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?
TP: We have had a few lately but I think getting our single Guillotine played on Triple M Hard and Heavy as Premiere is a great achievement that we are all super proud of .
PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?
TP: To date we have been self promoting but we decided to in list the services of Overdrive Entertainment PR, Misha and the team have done a great and I highly recommend them
They did a great job in releasing our new single Guillotine.
We know that we are not your average band be we believe if we stick to our formula we will be successful.
PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?
TP: We normally get asked to play on shows although we have organised a few themed shows with other like minded bands which have been a great success.
We have a few big shows coming up Southside of Hell May 8th at the Mansfield tavern
And Shredfest in August
PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?
TP: We think downloading music online is great it has created a platform for many artists to release their music .
It gives bands an opportunity to have the same tools as the bigger more established bands.
It would be great if Spotify would give a bit more back to artist that’s our only criticism.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
TP: The Beautiful People by Manson it would to have a song that people go nuts to when you play it live ,the lyrics are very relateable
PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?
TP: We get a little disappointed at the venues sometimes as they put minimal effort in their stage and lighting areas.
We believe that if people are prepared to come out and pay money to see a band they should see a great show sound and lighting wise .
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
TP: We are working on new songs and looking at some older ones to see what to record next
We will go back into the studio and record three more tracks and release them over the balance of the year.
PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?
