Swamp Chicken – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

SJ: We are a DIY band.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

SJ: We all met at BIMM University in Manchester and decided to form a band, we really jelled writing together and the rest is history.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

SJ: We all love a wide range of genres which I think really shows in our writing. Rock/Hip Hop/ Grunge/ Punk/ Psychedelic/Blues whatever shit feels good and makes you feel something you know. Theres a genre for every emotion.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

SJ: Well the dream is to be playing big festivals and getting aired on the Graham Norton show.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

SJ: We all bring our own ideas into the writing process. Some of our best work has been the result of a proper good jam, we like those kind of tunes as it just feels so natural to us. We look back like I don’t even remember writing that? It just happened.

I write lyrics about topics I experience in every day life, from my own raw emotion to serious stuff that’s happening around the world, I guess lyrics are my diary. I like to make it so the lyrics have multiple meaning so people feel they can relate in their own way, that’s special -Jayne

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

SJ: We promote Swamp Chicken and gigs on Facebook/ Instagram/ Twitter and you can never go wrong with word of mouth.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

SJ: Let’s be honest we’ve all done it illegally at some point. If its going to expand the artists audience we don’t see anything wrong with it.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

SJ: Any Pink floyd song ever written – Jayne

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

SJ: The Audience talking during a gig!!!

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

SJ: Being a DIY band can be very difficult and frustrating at times, so the fact we’ve gone though a pandemic still together, starting full time jobs, with a whole new set and different way of writing makes me very proud of us all.-Jayne

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

SJ: We are currently working on our next single and getting our music out there.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

SJ: We currently have three singles available on all major streaming platforms and they can be purchased on itunes, Amazon Music .
