SuperLung – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
SL: Alternative, Rock, Grunge
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
SL: SuperLung was founded in late 2018 when ex-members of Guy Smiley recruited ex-members of Pushrod, Almost There, Diskord, and Revilwen. At first it was just jamming for fun, but after writing a few songs together and playing our first show, we decided to continue as a working class rock band.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
SL: All our members have diverse musical backrounds from Hardcore Punk to Metal to Alternative. Our bands musical influences are Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and 311. I think as a band, or non – musical influences would have to be our parents. They all have been so supportive over the years through the trials and tribulations that occur only in the music industry.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
SL: We just want to continue to be able to write music and play out to fans. We would love to have our music careers take off but we are realists and know that being able to record and play live at any level is truly a blessing and we have to enjoy the ride while it lasts.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
SL: We all have an active role in writing our music. Bret Pedersen (Elvis) our guitar player and backing vocalist writes a lot of music and lyrics. Jeremy Buendorf (Boon) our other guitar player will bring in riffs that translate to songs. Jeff Zimmerman (Zimmy) our vocalist will write lyrics to the riffs brought in as well as Forrest Wilkes – bass player and Ryan McKeown (MQ) – drums will lay down the backbones of the songs. All the ideas are brought to rehearsal and we iron things into songs together so it is truly a team effort.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
SL: We do most of our promotion online using social media sites such as Facebook, Spotify, Reverbnation, Iheart Radio, and other digital platforms. For shows, we also use social media as well as hang up flyers and word of mouth for shows in or close to our hometown.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
SL: Let’s face it, the time of CD’s has come and gone. Digital downloads are here to stay with all the sites that now offer this service. As a band, you need to embrace it and roll with it, this is the best way to get your music out not just Nationwide, but Worldwide.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
SL: Honestly there are so many, but one that always is right up there is Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven. It is a song that will forever withstand the test of time.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
SL: Opinionated people that can’t see anyone else’s opinions as viable, only their own matters. When someone you live with eats all your food and doesn’t replace it, so when you are hungry and go to eat something, it is not there.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
SL: So many to choose from, I think it was when we first heard our music on the radio, it gave us a feeling that we were doing something positive in the industry, and when people started to tell us they heard the song and liked it, that is a whole different level of high that never gets old.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
SL: We are currently working on an album we are hoping to record here in late 2020 for release in early 2021.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
