Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
SD: I am an Indie singer-songwriter
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
SD: I have been performing around the Phoenix, AZ area since I was 9 (for about 9 years) and have been writing, recording, and releasing music since I was 13.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
SD: My musical influences are “From Indian Lakes”, a small California band with a cool, chill vibe; I love their writing. Adele has been my vocal influence since I started listening to her since I was very young. I had an art teacher in high school that is such an amazing artist and I learned so much from him – he definitely helped me learn and grow in my art – that is absolutely my passion after music.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
SD: I have a lot of goals for my music and I’m hoping to keep growing and get more people to hear my music.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
SD: I write my own songs and they are always about something personal to me or experiences I have or see.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
SD: I use social media; Facebook and Instagram for local shows and Twitter for streaming shows. I also post everything on my website. I will post about it with posters of the shows and sometimes videos to promote the music.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
SD: I’m not sure the question, but I download to get my music on all platforms and for online radio to play.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
SD: “I Love You” by Billie Eilish
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
SD: When artists compromise themselves and become someone else (and not true to their music) just to “get more fans”
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
SD: I was honored to sing the National Anthem for a Chicago Cubs spring training game (I’ve actually done that for many games over the years) but this was so amazing to do in front of a sold out crowd of 15,000 people and after I finished and was walking off the field a veteran approached me and took my hand to thank me for doing the song justice and making him proud. That was pretty cool for sure!
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
SD: I am finishing another song with my brother and have finished the cover art for it. There are more songs already planned out as well.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
SD: This has all my music and links to stream and buy it.
