Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
S: Our sound is a mix between Metal, Hardcore and Rap, drawing from the great bands from the 90’s and 2000’s with a modern touch.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
S: As young boys we were looking for a way to drink for free, and we all liked to listen to hard music as well, so we thought we could spend our free time combining these two things to achieve the perfect balance.
At first, we had all played in different bands. Then, in 2010, we gathered and came up with the name Sickret. We have had a lot of tours and shows-around 170 shows in 8 countries. We are from Lucerne and live in a small town in the heart of Switzerland.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
S: I’d say the life itself, everything that set us up and makes us smile. We love bands like Deftones, Korn, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, After the Burial, Tool, and so on. Every single member of the band listens to different music genres, so we have a great mix between them.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
S: To take over the world, we want to play at huge festivals and share the stage with our idols. That is our aim, we want to write songs as we feel and travel the world to spread our music. We like to have fun with good people, and make new friends.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
S: The music is written by the musicians and the lyrics by the singer 😊
I have some basic topics I like to use, most of it is stuff that pisses me off, or my view of the world.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
S: Like everybody does, social media.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
S: That is how the new generation listens to music, so we cannot be against it. We have to ride the wave and honestly, we also used these platforms before. Well, I would say it is not good or bad that’s the way it goes today.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
S: Barbie Girl, that was awesome, boy. That would have been our ticket to fame.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
S: Censorship, for example: why can’t I say the F word on YouTube? I thought honesty is welcome. Everyone tries to make themselves look better than anybody else, no self-reflection. It starts with wanna-be, do-gooders and ends with the heads of the nations. People who want to tell me how to live, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
S: There are a lot, but I would say the tour in Cuba, for two weeks we were treated like rock stars.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
S: We are working day and night on new stuff, we will release the songs step by step with some videos too. Follow us on social media and you will see.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
S: I would love to say at the Merch-Booth but unfortunately, I can’t…You’ll find us everywhere, Spotify, Youtube, Soundcloud, Facebook, Instagram, Applemusic, Gogglemusic or you can call me and I’ll sing you something over the phone. In our online store (sickret.com) you will find everything, CD’s, Shirts, Hoodies, Caps, Beanies ect. Take a look.
