Shadow People – Interview

Shadow People – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

SP: A shitty one.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

SP: It was a warm hot night in the winter of 2013 in New York City where I attended Harvard. I remember that night specifically as I was painting a portrait twisting my mustache reminiscing old romance. And I did a lot of meth and stayed up for weeks and saw Shadow People. So I named the band that and it’s completely a drug reference.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

SP: A lot of screamo, sludge, punk bands.

EyehateGod, Portraits of Past, 400 years, Crowbar, Electric Wizard, ISIS, The Germs, Void, The Chariot, Violent Femmes, Saetia, to name a few.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

SP: I guess the fuckin apocalypse. I’ve always looked forward to that. Other than that, I guess tour around the country for months out of the year.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

SP: I write the lyrics. My names Matt. This EP is mainly about bullshit social norms and watching the fuckin world burn. Giving up the desire to live with fake motherfuckers.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

SP: Facebook

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

SP: I think it’s fucking amazing and I hope people steal our music <3

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

SP: I would never wish I wrote someone else’s songs.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

SP: The word pet peeve is a pet peeve.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

SP: I’m not proud of what I do.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

SP: New songs for our new EP.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
