Santa Leave Something For Me

Seeking Benjamin is singer songwriter, Benjamin Francis. His son Oscar was born on the 28th February 2013 at St Michaels hospital in Bristol, Somerset.
Oscar was born with Gastroschisis. This is a birth defect where a hole in the abdominal (belly) wall beside the belly button allows the baby’s intestines to extend outside of the baby’s body. After a long and intricate operation performed at Bristol’s Royal Hospital for Children, Oscar was placed into a medically induced coma and transferred back to St Michaels. Medical staff in the neonatal intensive care unit worked hard around the clock to look after him whilst he tried to recover from his surgery with his Mum and Dad barely leaving his side.
Oscar had several operations at Bristol’s Royal Hospital For Children. Through his tricky recovery, Ben and Charlotte were given support by the charity Cots for Tots and stayed in their house for 4 months until Oscar was able to return home. Although Ben and Charlotte’s time at St Michaels was a difficult and an incredibly emotional time, they were extremely thankful for the hard work that the surgeons, doctors and nurses had put in. Not only for looking after Oscar but also the emotional support that they had received themselves. The Grand Appeal and Cots for Tots not only gave somewhere for Ben and Charlotte to stay and be close to their sick baby but also offered support with their well-being and offered advice with financial help.
In December 2021, Oscar and his dad spent their time in the rehearsal studio writing a Christmas song together. The song was written about all the things that Oscar loves about Christmas. His lyrics include his Grandfather’s Christmas lights, which he says you can see from space, decorating the Christmas tree and his dad playing silly songs on the guitar which made everybody laugh. The upbeat song Co-written by Oscar is titled “Santa Leave Something For Me”. It searches to bring just a moment of happiness and to give parents hope at such an emotional time. Secondly it is written as a thank you to all the hard working staff at St Michaels and The Bristol Royal Hospital for children, who work endlessly to save lives and give support throughout the year. It is Ben and Oscar’s wish to not only raise awareness of the Cots for Tots Charity and their continuous hard work but to also raise funding too.
SEEKING BENJAMIN is the moniker of British singer songwriter BEN FRANCIS, an artist from Dorset who discovered the joy and release of song writing when he was a mere ten year old boy.
A passion of music had been stirred and an appetite for a wide range of genres soon found and both are no less potent and inspiring to him today.
His journey blossomed thereon in, a high school rock band, Battle Of The Bands events and the raising of money through performances bringing experience and seeds for his musical passions.
Over the years you can add playing open mic nights and helping start a local and ongoing music festival to his journey and even almost a decade away from music, before his return in 2021, could not diminish his growth and energy in song writing and craft and indeed a hunger to explore his imagination while drawing on the inspiration of legends such as Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix to latter day southern rock artists such as City And Colours and The Black Keys.
As the recently released debut single ‘Marry Me’ reveals, it has all gone to stir an intimately individual character of writing and an especial SEEKING BENJAMIN sound.
Recently featuring on BBC Upload and with a new release looming, this is just the start of the journey for this young musician.
Ben’s forthcoming release is his EP, Temporary Lovers – due early March 2023.

“Such a refreshing change to hear a new artist like Seeking Benjamin. ‘Marry Me’ is such a catchy and commercial tune, with well-sung lyrics you don’t strain to hear. For a debut release, this sets the bar very high indeed.” – Bob Bate, Islands FM.
