Sea Of Snakes – Interview

PD: What type of artist are you?

SOS: Heavy Metal band out of Los Angeles. We like to play as loud as we can.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

SOS: Long time friends Jeff Murray (drums) and Jim McCloskey (guitars) started this band early last year when our respective bands (The Shrine, Motorsickle) had some down time. We ended up recording our first EP at Total Access in Redondo Beach with Wyn Davis. Tracy Steiger (vocals) and Mick Coffman (Bass) showed up at our practice spot after listening to the demos, just in time to get it all going.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

SOS: The Doors, Metal Church, Sabbath, Motorhead, St.Vitus, Pink Floyd and Slayer to name a few.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

SOS: We live to play whatever we want as loud as we want.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

SOS: Jim is the riff-master. We write tunes about how we like to live life…loud, hard, heavy, angry, and doing whatever the fuck we want when we want. Some people can’t keep their mouth shut, some people wanna act crazy…we write tunes about those people too. We also have a thing for the occult, so there’s that mixed in. It’s all rock n’ roll.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

SOS: That’s tough right now. Instagram @Sea_Of_Snakes_Band

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

SOS: It’s very Y2K. There’s nothing better than actually owning a physical copy of music. Preferably vinyl.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

SOS: Cheap Sunglasses by ZZ Top, go listen to it right now.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

SOS: Next question.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

SOS: What we are doing right now. Taking it all from 10 to 11!!

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

SOS: Writing more songs, recording spontaneous jams, and piling up more amps and drums.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

SOS: Keep your eyes peeled for a brand new video for our song ‘Let the Fire Burn.’ We’ll have music on all streaming services and CD’s and t shirts and all the stuff soon enough!
