Salvation Jayne’s Remix EP
Salvation Jayne – Remixes
Salvation Jayne are set to release an EP with a difference, due to be released via Jayne Doe Records on the 7th August 2020. This is a remix of Salvation Jayne songs, given a unique treatment by musicians who have re-arranged these tracks; using either the style of the bands they’re in, or the dance based music they produce. Artists involved include: John Tufnell (Saint Agnes) – Black Heart; Jericho Tozer (SKIES) – Coney Island, Baby!; Eden Gallup (Violet Vendetta) – Cortez; Sara Leigh Shaw (The Pearl Harts) – Juno; Fuji Hideout – Tongue Tied, Tiiva – Jayne Doe.
The idea initially came about during lockdown, as Salvation Jayne like many other bands have sought for alternative ways to put out new exciting content for their audiences. They laid down the gauntlet asking band members from bands they like if they would like to remix one of their tracks, and also held a competition to invite other artists to remix an original single. The band were inundated with a wide selection of remixes from a variety of musical genres, all-encompassing exciting ideas. The lack of live music, has like never before, brought together the music community, who’ve collectively shared music facilities at their disposal. The lockdown has also focused attention on issues surrounding mental health and domestic violence as well as BLM. Joining forces, musicians have done amazing work, raising funds for these causes. Salvation Jayne took part in a number of similar ventures, one of them being a Balcony session in which their song ‘Burn It Down’ was performed stripped back and was dedicated to the Refuge charity – as it reflects some of the issues surrounding domestic violence. Their performance contributed to the Refuge charity which supports women and children experiencing domestic violence. The band have consequently decided that proceeds from the digital sales of this EP on Bandcamp will go to the charity. With this in mind the band will be carrying out a live stream listening party to raise additional funds for the charity that will take place on the 6th August on the bands Facebook page. The band very much hope that the energy of cooperation and support will resonate from all the tracks on this EP.
Salvation Jayne have carved themselves a reputation for their white-hot, hook-laden explosive fuzzy riffs and glossy dream-pop undertones. The bands most recent singles ‘Coney Island, Baby!’ and ‘Jayne Doe’ have received support from the likes of BBC Introducing, Kerrang Radio, Radio X, Amazing Radio and dozens more stations in the UK and abroad. After relentlessly touring around the UK from 2017-19, Salvation Jayne added to their record of Sold Out shows with their most recent Headline Show at The Old Blue in partnership with CrossTown Concerts and Midnight Mango. This was in addition to their Sold Out 350 capacity show at the Quarterhouse in Folkestone, adding to their vast number of past support slots with bands including The Subways, Milk Teeth, Saint Agnes and Rews. Live dates will be announced as soon as everything gets back to normal, alongside several shows already confirmed. Catch Salvation Jayne at one of their live dates and see a band who encompass the huge desert style riffs of QOTSA, with Pvris’s electronica pop hooks – all combining with Chess Smith’s voice which is akin to the raw edge of PJ Harvey and the soulful power of Yonaka’s Theresa Jarvis, with lyrics that are fiercely impassioned, and evocative.
On the back of the attention they have received for recent singles ‘Coney Island, Baby!’ and ‘Jayne Doe’, the band recently recorded a live session mixed by Sylvia Massy (Prince, Seal, Aerosmith, Tool, System Of A Down, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins and Tom Petty), Rick Rubin’s engineer. The session has been recorded in the format of a mini documentary film including 2 live recordings of their new material.
Support includes Abbie McCarthy at BBC Kent Introducing who called their previous single “Riffy and Anthemic” , Casey Heyburn, BBC Kent Introducing, John Kennedy at Radio X, Elise Cobain Amazing Radio, Johnny Doom and Alex Baker at Kerrang Radio, Wyatt Wendells at Planet Rock. Total Rock. They have been interviewed and performed on Boogaloo Radio and were Louder UK Track of the week up against Iggy Pop and Starcrawler.
