PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?
Rhodz Costa : I describe my band as artist ! we are a brazilian thrash metal band trying to do our best being as band , as musicians and composers , we face the metal as serious as we can and i it does the same with my personal life into headbanger!
PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.
Rhodz Costa : I ‘m a brazilian guy from sãopaulo city , i started in metal when i teenager with bands like Ramones , Metallica , Megadeth , Sepultura and Iron Maiden . My interest in make music started with my father , he plays guitar and he gave me your guitar , so i started to play ! Another guy that inspire me into to start to play and created a band was Dave Mustaine ! When i saw some posters of him headbanging with your Jackson King V guitar , my mind was blowing away so since that i started to practice guitar and run to join my first band !
PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?
Rhodz Costa : I’ve loved music since I was a kid and I think one day music and I would collide at some point! I am totally inspired by 80’s music, metal, pop, etc. I blame Dave Mustaine and James Hetfiled too hehehe! In lyrical terms it’s hard to talk about what I like to write but horror movies and sci fi and serial killers are the main influences on the last works I’ve done.
PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?
Rhodz Costa : Make good music and feels good with that !
PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?
Rhodz Costa : Get released two full albums with Sadistic Messiah and know the people are interest by our music ! its a fantastic feeling and of course its a great proud to me !
PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms
in the day of the home studio. How is that going?
Rhodz Costa : Nowadays are so many bands that really difficulty being a relevant band in the underground ! i cant talk for another bands but i can i do about my band are create honest and good songs and try to promote my work the better way !
PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?
Rhodz Costa : We try to put the band on the radar ! we are play in São Paulo city on march ! We are excited with and the cool thing are we play with our friends from Sounder and Sacrifix !!!
PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?
Rhodz Costa : I think its a cool thing for small bands like us that need to spread the music , but with illegal download many bands do not gained any money and its bad ! but today we have bandcamp and spotify for an example , that pay the bands and create a sinergy with fan and artist !
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
Rhodz Costa : Fight Fire With Fire from Metallica cause are the most intense and riffing thrash metal song ever created !!!!
PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?
Rhodz Costa : The way companies drain bands!! they corrode and kill them! I would like to change how things are managed.
PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?
Rhodz Costa : We work to promote the band and our new album Dehumanizing Process , we want to play some shows too.
