Runt – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD:  How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?

R: Experimental punk art project.

PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc

R: We are a super group of a known touring musician, a child actor, a well known producer, and a street artist. We formed this faceless band to play music we want without having any connection to our careers.

PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?

R: We write about the human condition, Self depreciation, and escapism. One of the members plays pop music and wanted to create something entirely different. All the members have been a part of projects that are “safe”. They all wanted to do something out of their wheelhouse.

PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?

R: We strive to see how broken the music industry is.

PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?

R: Can’t say

PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?

R: It is the entire reason why we started this group. We have all been successful in our careers and we made this music to show how difficult it is to promote a band without using nepotism or connections.

PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?

R: We have not performed under this new band.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?

R: We feel that it is a necessary evil. Want to get heard? Then you have to use the system that people are using.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

R: “Take it Easy” – Eagles

PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?

R: The system is broken. Artists are not supported. We hoped that the pandemic would have restarted the system but instead it just solidified the distance between the creative and the people making money off of the backs of the artist.

PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?

R: Music Videos

PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?
