ROLLA release new single ‘EASE MY MIND’

THE FIRST SONG FROM THEIR DEBUT EP WHICH FOLLOWS EARLY IN 2023
PLAY MANCHESTER’S FACTORY 251 TONIGHT (7th Oct) AS GUESTS TO SHAUN RYDER

Rolla have been firing up festivals all over the land this summer, tearing into sets as if their lives depended on it at the Isle of Wight, Y Not?, Rewired, Neighbourhood, The Great Escape and many more. Now the Manchester quintet bring the fiery full force of their live show to their new single ‘Ease My Mind’, which is out now on Golden Robot Records.  It’s the first song to preview their debut EP, which is set to be released early next year.

‘Ease My Mind’ takes the towering anthems of The Verve as a starting point and ups the ante with elements of The Sex Pistols and Black Rebel Motorcyle Club, creating a jet energy roar of sound flooding with supercharged shoegaze guitars and charismatic vocal delivery. If you’ve ever wanted indie immediacy delivered with a powerhouse punk intensity, ‘Ease My Mind’ is one for you. The track was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales with production from Nick Brine (Oasis, Stone Roses) and mixing courtesy of Gareth Nuttall (The Lottery Winners, The K’s).

Rolla commented, “‘Ease My Mind’ was written as a reaction to feeling the constant pressures of daily life, the same old routine and all that shite. I guess it’s kind of a cliché, but it’s an anthem to get you up and get you going and prove to people that you are more than just your daily grind, and that there’s more to life than just answering to your bosses. For a lot of people that whole other world is rock ‘n’ roll, it will always give you all the answers.

We recorded it at Rockfield, which was a week to never forget. It’s a cool old place, and it was a pleasure to work with local legend Nick Brine. Creative carnage at its finest.

The band were formed by the Gilmore brothers, James (vocals) and Luke (bass), who added Tom Paddon (guitar) and Luke McConnell (guitar) before their most recent recruit Saul Bardsley (drums) completed the line-up. Drawing on influences both new and old (also taking in the likes of Kasabian, IDLES and DMA’S) they made it their mission to shake-up rock ‘n’ roll conventions and to face the issues of their generation head on. That ambition started with the early self-released tracks ‘Thinking of Tomorrow’ and ‘Sweet Lullaby’ before intensifying with the double A-side single ‘No Violence // Show Me’. Initial support has come from Gigwise, Amazing Radio and XS Manchester.

Rolla will play Factory 251 in Manchester tonight as guests to Happy Mondays / Black Grape legend Shaun Ryder. They’re also confirmed to play the Sound of Brit’s tenth birthday party in Paris on December 10th alongside APRE and Bandit.

Attending the same school together and growing up near Manchester, the lads were exposed to the artistic and cultural wealth of the city which naturally led to a band being formed. Their influences are apparent with loud in-your-face guitar riffs and powerful beats; a unique sound with nods to the Manchester music scene and bands such as The Verve and Twisted Wheel. The attitude and confidence of the band allow them to keep a crowd in the palm of their hand, delivering a performance as big as their sound.

James Gilmore (Vocal), Luke Gilmore (Bass), Luke McConnell (Guitar), Tom Paddon (Guitar), Saul Bardsley (Drums)
