PD: What type of artist are you?
RR: Hey Guys, Red Roll here! We are a rock band, based in Bologna (Italy). We usually like call Red Roll a “way of life”! It’s our dream, Red Roll is the “box” where we put all our dreams, our fear and our emotions. We play an alternative rock… but we think we cannot be closed in one genre, we make music following our feelings so, it depends by the moment!
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
RR: We started playing together almost 2 years ago but each of us have been playing since 15 years I think!
From the beginning we have been working hard on this project from different side: we played a lot of cover to be able to start playing live.. to build our band feelings! But we early started writing our own songs! We made a crowdfunding to be able to buy an old bus ( our “Ragnar”), we have a craft beer with our name and logo, we have a clothes line…. Ecc..
Almost one year ago we released our first single and EP: “At the end the beginning”. Then we have been started working with an Italian producer for a full album. At the moment we have all the new songs… we will record this album in December and it will be out in April 2022.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
RR: Our musical influences comes from the “Rock world”, but each of us have different inclinations. Grunge, Metal, punk rock and rock… this is our world! We love band like Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters, Alter Bridge, Muse etc…
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
RR: We want to make noise! We wanna play live as much as we can… make our music listen by the people. Music is our world, our way of life! Our goal is enter the minds of as many people as possible!
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
RR: We don’t have one way to create music! Usually we start from an idea: a guitar riff, a vocal line, a text or a
suggestion. Then we work a lot together… in rehearsal room trying to give a structure to the song. For this new album we recorded “at home” all the songs… to able to listen to it and have a more clear idea… and to work better on it! We work with our producer too, for the arrangements etc…
Our songs are mainly about feelings, emotions… we think that the upcoming album is a journey inside different emotions….
They are an introspective journey into the sickest areas of our self!! ahah
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
RR: We usually do promotion with socials! Instagram, Facebook and You tube! But we firmly believe in the power of live concerts and direct contact with people! So every time we can we like jump on our old van and bring our idea of music everywhere!
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
RR: Nowadays we think it is a common way for people to discover music! We are not totally agree with that but we have to ….live with this aspect! Anyway this aspect has some good thinks too…make possible in a easier way for little band be heard!
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
Mmh…It’s a difficult question ! … It’s impossible write only one song!
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
RR: Every time when a new person jump inside our music and enjoy it! This is the thing that makes us really happy and give us the strength and the charge to move forward on this difficult trip!
From the musical side we played on some important stages, in front a lot of people…. For exemple in Bormio during the ski world cup!
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
RR: As I wrote before, we are strongly working about all the aspects for our new album! Lirycs, arrangements, promotion, tour etc…
PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
RR: We are stage animals! We think of the concert as a big orgy between us and the audience! A transcendental moment when we become one with the audience!
