Reaven – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

R: “We are a French pop/rock band with a touch of electro sounds.”

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

R: “It’s a long story of love ahah, but to cut it short, we started to make music together at school, years ago. It began with concerts in our hometown for Vince (drummer of the band) and I (Lead-singer / Guitarist of the band). But we always wanted to tour everywhere. And this is where our 1st european tours arrived in our story… Before the US tour we were supposed to give in 2020”

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

R: “We do have a very large panel of influences. Musically, from the Woodstock years, The Beatles etc… to more recent bands like Kings of Leon, Coldplay etc…

We also have Rhythm’n’blues, classical and jazz influences. On a non-musical scale, we are really interested in a lot of movie atmospheres, like Tim Burton and his fantasy world but also writers. The Little Prince from Saint-Exupéry has always been an inspiration to me for example”

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

R: “To give our first world tour I guess. The stage, travels, meeting new people from different cultures. Different audiences each night, it’s what we love.”

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

R: “I am the songwriter of the band. The songs I write can talk of a very simple moment in our daily life (one of our last single “Hope” has been written in front of a beautiful sunset in Spain, it was just a perfect and simple moment I wanted to share), and sometimes I go deeper in different emotions, to write about tough moments but also about the world we’re living in. The connection between people and technology in the daily life, the fact that taking the time to do things today is almost a dream, everything is about instant. We don’t properly take time anymore. But more recently, I write a lot about the future and our existence in this possible future, I want to write about benevolence and positive thoughts for tomorrow.”

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

R: “In every ways possible ahah!! We prospect to book shows all around the world, we contact thousands of radios, blogs, companies, newspapers… Each action made can bring a possible opportunity, this is our motto”

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

R: “I think there are pros and cons… It’s a good way to promote your music, to share it. But, musicians need to earn money as well, and most of the time you can’t trust downloads to earn enough money to live”

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

R: “There are so many ahah!! “Sex on Fire” from Kings of Leon because there is something truly rock and wild in it that I love. A lot of songs from the Beatles, because… a lot of songs from the Beatles are purely incredible in so many ways!!”

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

R: “In the music? It’s often sadly a fight with the money you make from this industry, and also one of our pet peeve could be the fact of being afraid that not enough people would follow us in the long-term. Having an audience is difficult, keeping the audience attracted is even harder I think in a musical career”

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

R: “There are more than one but, I think when we were like 17 years-old, something like 1,500 people sang along a full original song from the band. It was amazing to feel that…”

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

R: “Our new album “For Tomorrow”, we want to release it this year. And also right now we are trying to get as more airplay worldwide for our new singles as we can…”
