Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?
P: Every artist out there is unique – in a good or bad way, haha! For me, I am just the guy being out there playing the guitar just because that’s my passion and I love it!
PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.
P: I am originally from Bulgaria. At the age of 15 I moved to Denmark, which is where I still live nowadays. When I was around 11-12 I started learning the guitar after being inspired by my favorite heavy metal bands and I didn’t stop since, rest is history!
PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?
P: It is really anything that touches me and inspires me as an artist, it can be anyone or anything. Of course musically I am and I have always been inspired by my personal favorite bands. The topic of my songs could be anything, as long as I found it meaningful and thus got inspired to do it!
PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?
P: Just never stopping, which has been proven to be impossible anyway. I can’t ever stop doing music. But yes, moving forward, despite difficulties, which always occur here and there, big or small. Always moving to the next level.
PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?
P: I guess it is all of the records I have done? I am really proud of my music career as a whole!
PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?
P: Right. Well, that’s the only thing I have gotten to experience anyway, since I wasn’t around in the 80s etc… I have just been dealing with the way it is now and try to make the best out of it. It sure ain’t easy, but nothing great is ever easy, right? Just gotta work hard and keep going!
PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?
P: Having a booking agent is obviously the professional way for a reason! All of the socials are of course great for promoting live shows, tours and anything really. Nothing currently happening with Prophecy as far as touring goes, but I am touring with my other band REZET, so check that out perhaps and maybe come see us in your city!
PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?
P: Again, it is the only thing I have experienced, since I haven’t lived in a world without it. I think it all has its good and bad sides. Just remember to support the artists and bands, because without that it is surely impossible for them to keep going…
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
P: I actually never think about that. I am perfectly happy and proud with what I write and have written, haha! But if I have to use my imagination, I would sure wish that I released legendary records like The Number of the Beast, Master of Puppets, Rust in Peace, you name it… Why? Because they are legendary for a reason!
PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?
P: Definitely! That’s a long topic! I think the music industry is ridiculous, especially nowadays. Too many things I would change if I could and it is pretty utopic ideas, I’d say…
PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?
P: Currently we are at the final stage of the new REZET record, so stay tuned for information regarding that!
PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?
P: The internet has it all!
