Project Renegade – Interview

Project Renegade – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

PR: Ody: I’d say we are musicians that are concerned with real life subjects and worries that trouble today’s youth. We are people that want to make a difference with their music and help others accept their selves and one another so we can achieve peace and harmony in an otherwise” challenging” co-existence.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

PR: In 2014 me and Marianna Decided to create Project Renegade. The time was right to stop participating in bands with more romantic intentions e.g. jamming and making friends, and to create something with a message, something more professional and something that would help us chase our dream. Hence Project Renegade were made. We have released our EP “Cerebra” and now our full-length “Order of the Minus”.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

PR: Musical – Korn, Evanescence, Limp Bizkit, Gojira, Devin Townsend, Karnivool, In This Moment, Rage Against The Machine, Deftones, Slipknot

Non- Musical – Alan Watts, Stan Lee, Ken Robinson, Daniel Day Lewis, Jim Carrey (Especially nowadays), Mike Vallely, movies and nature.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

PR: We hope to turn our band into a full fledge profession where we can live off of it, to succeed in spreading our message of embracing and accepting diversity and difference, to always realize our artistic visions the best way possible and to help as many people we can to achieve everything they want to achieve in their lives in order to make themselves and everyone else reach new heights and a new plane of knowledge and evolution.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

PR: Mostly, me and Marianna write the songs although Nick has brought a lot of Ideas, definitely more than any previous guitar player we had, but a lot of the bulk of the record Is being written by me and Marianna since we also do the production arrangement and programming for the songs. Our thematics explore the obstacles and the difficulties that young people between ages 18-35 experience today in order to make their dreams come true.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

PR: Nowadays, through social media, especially Facebook and Instagram, we are very active out there and we always try to keep everyone updated on what’s shows are we playing,  what’s going on in our camp and what we are thinking about doing next. We also try to do as many YouTubr videos we can from our tours and videoshoots.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

PR: If it’s legal and people are paying for it (unless the artist gives it away for free or has an unspecified fee for it) it’s all cool by us. I mean it’s 2019 so downloading music is very convenient. The sad part is that streaming revenue is next to nothing for the artist and that needs to change. On the other hand if it’s illegal then No! Excuse me but I’m not a part of the whole “Download it for free I don’t care movement”… We spend thousands of dollars/ euros for a record that cost 8 maybe 10 dollars/euros soooo….Yeah, Don’t steal our music!

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

PR: “I’m not Justin Bieber b*tch” by Gunther just cause it cracks me up everytime I listen to it. I really have a soft spot for troll music!

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

PR: I get very aggressive towards clowns, I don’t hate them or anything but instinctively I find myself being very aggressive towards them and weirdly enough they don’t scare me…I don’t know what it is!

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

PR: Playing with Evanescence because they are one of the biggest bands out there and the coolest people ever and also our heroes! We played in front of 5.000 people in Kiev Ukraine and it was a dream come true! Also ,opening up for Bullet for my Valentine because it was in our hometown and the love of our people is unlike anything else!!!

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

PR: Well, we are working on new music, actually we have a bunch of songs and we are writing even more, Nick is fitting right into place and is finding his groove within the band and the 3 of us bounce ideas of each other which turn into very cool songs so we are excited, also we are working on new music videos for our album “Order of the Minus” which came out October 31st .

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

PR: Well, we are punk rockers at heart and we tend to give a pretty energetic and interactive show. We recognize the crowd and the fact that they gave their hard earned money to see a show and not just 4 people who stand there stone dead and just play their instruments. So far people are telling us that they are having a lot of fun in our shows and we understand that besides the music business we are also in the entertainment business so we strive to give everyone their money’s worth plus a good night’s fun… So yeah, dinner and a show what more do you want?! As of our next show we cannot announce anything yet but we are looking for a lot of exciting stuff to promote our music live and surely 2020 will be a very full year for us!
