Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
P: We are the melodic hard rock band Pressure from Sweden. We draw ourpower from a lot of different types of music and try to make it a little bit of our own! So well a PressureMetal kind of artist
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
P: Well all of us in the band has been playing for a long time. It all started years ago when I (Simon) became Emils guitar teacher. Then I started to bring Emil to gigs and soon after that dynamic duo was forged.
After a few years of playing out on bars, clubs, and weddings, doing mostly covers, we got tired of playing covers and started translating and rearrange a lot of know and popular rock/popsongs.
By this time, we realised that we need to find something to bring something extra to the music so we started to look for a lead singer. After a lot of searching we found Olof.
When Olof joined the band and we all started to work with the songs I also started to write my own music. We started working with my draft and ideas for the song and pretty fast realized that this was what we wanted to do. We want to write our own music. We started to search for our sound and made countless redos, retakes, new ideas and yeah it felt like we lived at our studio. It has taken us about two years to find our sound. And today we are very proud of it! Enjoy!
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
P: We have a lot of musical influences. We try to listen to as much good and original music as we can. But there is a lot of it out there. But to mention a few. We love Sabaton, Rammstein, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Volbeat, Aerosmith, Queen yeah and so on.
A non-musical influence would be all these people living there life and fighting to make it work. There is a lot of working class heroes out there.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
P: To make it and have world domination? Haha, well no but to be able to influence people around the world and to have as many people as possible listen to us. We also want people to feel empowered and touched by our music. If we can help someone handle a Pressure. We have reached success!
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
P: Its mostly me, Simon, who comes up with the songs. Both lyrics and music. I write about everyday emotions, pressures and situations that can happened to everybody. All stories have a double meaning. The good and the band. The song can be about one or the other…or perhaps about both? Its up to the audience to decide! The music is finalized by me and the other guys. Our lead singer rewrites the lyric to fit him and we get a lot of feedback from the guys to improve the song.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
P: Well during these times it has been tough going out on gigs and so. But we advertise and use social media for the shows. We try to find collabs with other bands and love to help each other. Other we try to post on both our website and on our social media of topics that is close to us and that we want to make people aware of.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
P: Well I don’t think about it much. I mean people use mostly the streaming services and Youtube nowadays, so I think that downloading music is not that big of a deal. I want people to listen to our music. Then they will come to our shows
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
P: This was a hard question, but I guess I have to say “Still got the blues” with Gary Moore. It has a lot of feelings and Gary Moore really project his feelings into his instrument. I love how he does that. Its also a very good dynamics in the song. On the other hand I would have loved to have written “Sweet Child of Mine” with Guns n Roses, it’s a great rock song with an iconic riff and a lot of different faces.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
P: I don’t want music to be played by products if you get me? There is a lot of “artists” out there that don’t have the experience or the soul to project their soul into their songs. The industry just takes them for their youth, looks or attitude and forget about the music. I love to hear a good song, a good voice or a good sounding solo from an ARTIST. I want music to be played by musicians! Everyone can be taught how to use an instrument but to PLAY it? It takes an artist!
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
P: We are so proud of our music and we feel very humble and proud to be in the band Pressure. We live for this.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
P: Right now we are working on our our live show, doing a lot of great stuff that will make the audience remember the first show they see us. I cannot tell you more right now, but come and see us when we can get back out on the road!
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
P: We have four singles out now. You can find us on all the streaming platforms but here are some links. Please also visit us on our social media! Cheers
