Phrenetex – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

P: We are a thrash metal band from Vilnius, Lithuania.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

P: We started to play as Phrenetix in 2013, after two members from the band before tragically died in a car accident. It was extremely difficult, but we decided to keep going.

There were a couple more line up changes, but we kept on having a good time. We traveled for a little bit in Europe, though mainly our gigging experience is from inside Lithuania.

Phrenetix have released two studio albums “Fear” in 2015 and “Exuviae” in 2021.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

P: Musical influences are Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Mastodon, Tool, Primus, Twelve Foot Ninja, Ghost. Non musical, I would say, brave people who follow their passion.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

P: Our goal is to play at least 200 shows per year and our dream is to bring people joy with every one of them!

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

P: Our songs are mainly written by me, Lina, singer and guitar player. They are mostly about human inner conflicts and human psyche in general. To put it simply – the dark side of a person.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

P: We mainly promote everything through our social media, Facebook and Instagram.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

P: We think that era of music as we idealize has ended and everyone needs to move on. Now it’s more a matter of personality engagement, which is not necessarily a bad thing. People just need to adjust.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

P: Ha, there are a lot of them, very hard to choose only one. But right now, I would say I wish I would have written Holy Wars by Megadeth. Because of the complexity of the riffs. The middle section of the song is just mind blowing and the ending is how a perfect culmination should sound.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

P: Ignorant, arrogant, egotistical people who care only about themselves.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

P: To play in Wacken Metal Battle in Germany in front of approximately 10 000 people. Also, I’m very proud of our second album “Exuviae”.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

P: Right now we are working on trying to get gigs outside of Lithuania. Also, we have couple of videos in our minds, so these are our main priorities right now.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

P: You can listen our music on Spotify or Youtube:
