Phenomy – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

P: We are a metal band from Lebanon, we can’t be defined by one genre, our art is dark, aggressive and honest.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

P: Phenomy was formed in Lebanon in late 2014, since then, we travelled around Europe and played major festivals including Wacken Open Air 2018 and Metalhead Meeting Festival 2018. We have released 2 albums and 4 singles from our next release “Syndicate Of Pain” that is set to be released on March 3rd 2022.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

P: Musical influences go from The doors to Whitechapel, Metallica being our biggest influence, we also like different styles of bands and genres of music including cinematic music (Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfmann).

We are also influenced by comics, tv shows and video games.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

P: We play music because this is the only purpose we have. Being able to go on stage and make people feel better, connect with our fans and bring them together is the ultimate satisfaction.

Our goals are to keep on doing this and play in every corner of the world.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

P: The songs and lyrics are mainly composed and written by Loïc and then, every member adds his own touch into it.

It usually starts with a riff or an idea, a specific message. Sometimes it comes from personal experiences and sometimes from movies, tv shows, world events that inspired us to make music.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

P: There is no specific way, we work a lot on content that we think will entertain our audience, especially on social media since it’s now a huge asset in the promotion and marketing world. We share a lot of personal experiences to connect with people around the world and of course we give it all on stage so that people have a good experience and tell their friends, you should come, you will enjoy this!

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

P: We grew up in a country where metal music wasn’t very accessible and we understand the importance of the internet and being able to discover new artists and music through download and streaming services. It’s sad that a lot of people rely on streaming services and kind of lost the passion of having a physical piece of art in their hands from the artist.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

P: Sometimes you connect with some songs and it already feels like the song belongs to you. You can relate to the lyrics as if it talked about your personal struggles and experiences in life. This is the power of music for us and there are lots of masterpieces from bands like Metallica and Pantera that we wished we wrote but we believe that if these songs were not written before us, we wouldn’t be inspired the way we are and we wouldn’t be writing the same music that we are writing today.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

P: We know that Peter (Bassist) hates the wet willy, when someone sticks his finger in his mouth and then puts it in his ear. It really pisses him off.

Pineapple on pizza is also very annoying to us.

We do not share food, we do not like anyone putting their hands in our plates.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

P: We think playing Wacken Open Air is a huge milestone. Getting endorsed by brands like Solar guitars, Bosphorus Cymbals and Hughes & Kettner are important too, but we are also proud of what we have achieved, coming from a country like Lebanon, where metal is not the most appreciated style of music.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

P: We are releasing our third album “Syndicate Of Pain” on March 3rd 2022 , which is a conceptual album that belongs in its own universe and that follows a storyline. We are excited to announce that the upcoming albums will belong in the same universe and will follow the same storyline as well.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

P: Our music is available on all streaming platforms, our music videos are all available on our YouTube channel.

You can buy our CDs , Digital downloads and merch on our website
