Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you? We are an Alt Rock Female fronted band Based in central
PAVE: Manchester Having come together from South Yorkshire and Dublin
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
PAVE: After Meeting at BIMM University, We originally formed together to complete performance exams during our time here but with a natural bond, we began to progress together out of University, writing our own material and playing local shows. Our Debut single and Live performance at Gorilla came just days before the first national lockdown where we each took a step back to understand what the purpose of PAVÉ really was. Bouncing straight back from this we released our Debut EP and with success of support from the likes of BBC introducing, CLASH and Planet Rock we have successfully sold out Local Headline shows and supported the likes of The Hara.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
PAVE: We definitely all have completely different influences, individually which is what I think has given the band the chance to be so genre fluid and keep the writing process more interesting.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
PAVE: Our main goal is to continue writing music that has something to stand for and say. The dream would be to be given the opportunity to be able to write music full time and create a piece of art that is long lasting.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
PAVE: Kevin generally brings forward a main idea and then we will jam it out as a full band. We believe songs that are meant to be in our position, come to us and write themselves. We can tell within the first few run throughs if a song is meant to be with us or if we should move on to a new idea.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
PAVE: Like other bands social media is our main voice – Instagram is our go to. If there is something happening in the band, it can always be found on there.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
PAVE: People who get into music for the wrong reasons. I think this is a big one these days with Tiktok especially. With a platform that can change lives overnight everyone has suddenly turned into musicians with no real passion or understanding for what being a musician really means and the privilege that comes with having the opportunity to connect humans together. We are always working on trying to make our band about the music first, and marketing second – musicians seem to only get noticed if they can also play influencer too.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
PAVE: A stand out moment for us was our first Manchester Headline show. It was a sell out and we felt so much support and love in the room. To have so many people we care about together supporting us, singing back our music and enjoying themselves was a feeling that we will never forget.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
PAVE: All our releases can be found across all streaming platforms – we like to put out alternative versions of our tracks out on YouTube too, so it’s always worth checking that out!
