Pain – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

Ans.) A sitting at home composing music and doing a gig or two every couple of months type.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

Ans.) My musical journey began into metal began when I first heard Slipknot. After listening and watching to Joey Jordison I wanted to be a drummer period. I formed Deth Alliance in high school as a drummer playing at different pubs and venues. During the same time, I was asked to join Dark Moon Eternity and got the opportunity to play for Mtv Never Hide sounds show on TV. We had a featuring in one of the episodes and a small interview as well. I got the opportunity to play at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium for Hockey Premier League which was broadcasted live on Star Sports.  My band Third Eye Destruction was among the top 3 for the Harley Rock Riders competition held across India and thousands of bands participated. Third Eye Destruction was the first and only band to perform bleed live in India as a band. After this thing changed, members dissipated and took it upon me to launch a solo project to keep the dream alive and keep composing. Finally, I launched and promoted my album “cycle of hate” in December 2018 and it has over 60,000 streams which are more than I could have ever asked for.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Ans.) My musical influences as a teen were Linking Park, Slipknot, Megadeth and Slayer. As an adult, they are Meshuggah, Animals as Leaders, Pink Floyd and I wrestled a bear once.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

Ans.) To be honest, I have already achieved my dreams and goals. I didn’t expect to achieve them at all as I was just blindly working hard doing what I loved not expecting anything. Now, I am just going with the flow to see where it takes me.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

Ans.) Deepanshu Bhoj and Kartik Baisoya(me) were behind composing the current tracks on the cycle of hate album but the new songs will be composed with collaborations with different artists across the globe to improve my composition process as an artist. Two new songs are already composed, and I am in no rush. The songs and lyrics are about uniting the human race and overthrowing the corrupt and tyrannical government, showing people that the media lies and they are not working in our best interest and history shows.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

Ans.) The promotion is done through mutual contacts, social media, flyers, and memes.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

Ans.) Downloading and buying music seems like a thing of the past as everyone has shifted to streaming services.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

Ans.) I wish I had composed “Bleed”. This song is musical supremacy, just enough notes to calm your nerves and enough groove to get your neck going.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

Ans.) Commercial pop and rap music with unoriginal and shitty lyrics. The producers should be the superstars, but the artists get to take all the credit as if the beats were created by them.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

Ans.) Me playing at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium at New Delhi. It was a near-full stadium with people and I enjoyed playing each moment there. I was so proud and enjoyed playing for such an amazing crowd.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

Ans.) I am finalizing the compositions and working on a new song called “top secret”. Don’t worry its just a prototype name.

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

Ans.) The next show would be a live stream because of the coronavirus take over!
