PD. What type of artist are you?
Oceans. We’re a collective of passionate musicians from a post-hardcore and alternative band called Oceans!
PD. Tell us the brief history of yourself.
Oceans. The current line up of this band stemmed from a party flat in Brighton UK. Drunken ideas became reality and the rest is history as they say.
PD. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
Oceans. Our musical influences are the usual titans of rock such as Dave Grohl, John Lydon, Big Shaq and our non musical influence would probably have to be Bender from Futurama.
PD. What are your dreams and goals?
Oceans. It’s all about those big crowds man. When all is said and done, I think most musicians will agree the thing they yearn for the most is playing to large rowdy crowds.
PD. Who writes your songs, what are they about?
Oceans. T’is a group effort with the song writing, we all have a say in it. Most of the lyrical content is based on inner battles. The lyrics are not necessarily direct, they are somewhat distant so that it gives the listener plenty of space to visualise the story to their own interpretation.
PD. How do you promote your band and shows?
Oceans. Spam e-mails and junk mail…
PD. What do you think about downloading music online?
Oceans. Haha well that’s a debate that can go on all day and night so to sum it up, good for the fan, bad for the music industry.
PD. What’s your outlook on the record industry today?
Oceans. It’s amazing because we now live in a time where anyone from anywhere around the globe can write and produce something in their bedroom and go viral with it and make it a hit. Back in the day you had to rely a lot more on gigging and touring to gain exposure so it’s very different now. Now more than ever anyone has the tools to give music a go, so naturally that brings a saturation in music today.
PD. What song do you wish you’d written and why?
Oceans. Sweeeeet Caroliiiiiine DUH DUH DUUUUH! Need I say anymore?
PD. What are some of your pet peeves?
Oceans. Un-tunable guitars and rail replacement buses. Really grinds our gears!
PD. What is your proudest moment in music?
Oceans. Back in July of 2017 we had the opportunity to play to hundreds of people in Colchester – A very special moment and it was a pretty incredible buzz…
PD. Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
Oceans. On March 13th we will be having an EP launch in Brighton at The Hope & Ruin! It’s going to be a great show featuring some of Brighton’s finest bands such as Quiet Lions and El Moono! Definitely not one to miss…
