Oblong

Oblong

Having existed in a nascent form for a year or so, oblong finally emerged in 2016 as possibly Llanelli’s finest exponents of bi-lingual fuzzed up shed skronk. Singing in Welsh and English, our songs deal with the existential plight of the middle-aged Welshman and his ongoing struggle with the dark forces that would rule our planet. And some stuff about zombies and black holes.

Our sound is raw and unadorned and draws it’s influences from the late 70’s / early 80’s UK post-punk era, with a bit of Pixies and Idles thrown in too.

Our 2017 self-recorded debut album, “Briliant…Gwd” attracted fulsome praise from various music blogs and had repeated airplay on stations across Wales, England, Europe and North America. Our live set is uncompromising, energetic and usually poised on the edge of chaos, but mercifully brief- blink and we may have already left the stage.

With a new album poised for release in early 2019, it’ll soon be time to set your phasers to “fun” once again. Oi oi you lucky people!

“We’re now 7 long days into lockdown but we refuse to let a poxy pandemic stop us from bringing you some new tunes this year. Using science, we concocted this special video to provide a taste of our eagerly anticipated third album. It’s exactly the same song as featured in the previous video, but this time we’re safely practicing social-distancing.”
