O.Y.D. – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

We like to think ourselves as a band that attempts to blend a diverse total of influences, with heavy metal being the basis of the whole endeavor.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

We started in 2012 and after a couple of years we recorded our first album (“Deep Breath”) in Nashville,TN with Toby Wright as the producer, under Pavement Entertainment. After line up changes and various gigs we come to November 2018 when we traveled to Gothenburg, Sweden to work with Fredrik Nordstrom  in order to make our second album, called “Indigo”.From this point and on we are participating in as many gigs as possible ,promoting our music.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

We are different in various aspects such as age or taste in music, so we ‘ld rather mention genres instead of bands-the list would include groove, modern and thrash metal and other genres like alternative, industrial ,punk followed by funk or jazz…

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

Our predominant goal is to play in as many gigs as possible in the widest range of longitude and latitude ! Moreover we would be happy to feel that eventually ,we added a tiny piece in modern music playing something that is unique in its own way..

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

We all contribute equally , keeping no standard procedure, but we usually take a guitar riff and evolve it relating to the rest of the instruments, adding gradually new elements or ideas that we find approporiate or attractive.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

We are currently working with an agency and before that we were promoting ourselves mainly in DIY fashion, like most bands do with everything available in terms of social media or physical advertising.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

Well this is a very controversial issue to deal with but ,to sum it up, its a blessing for people with low income being able to reach any song for free. On the other hand, us, as a band, we know that our expectations profitwise will be reduced to a percentage…We continue regardless…

PD: What song do you wish you ‘d written and why?

This question can be be really mind boggling…First piece that pops in the head would be “Holy Wars” by Megadeth. We are talking about a masterpiece here…

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

We ll just mention our main one which is people that come to the show about anything but listening to music…Enough said…

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?’

Probably supporting Come Back Kid , in an impressive venue such as “Principal Club” in 2018…

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

We are currently working on new compositions and simultaneously promoting our album in cooperation with our new agency.

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

Our upcoming show will take place in Athens, at “Six Dogs” club, on the 27th of February. You should be there because you WILL enjoy it as much as we will…

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to speak through your site ! Cheers everyone !!!
