‘Run Boy (No Longer)’ is the brand new single from Geo Moon, in collaboration with Not Now Norman lead singer, Taylor Mitchell.
Ready to hit the online shelves on Friday 19 th February, the single contains a blend of genres, spanning the worlds of rock, alt. metal, drum n’ bass, industrial and cinematic film music. By fusing together ‘fat’ electronic drums and synthesised sounds with edgy rock guitars, the result is a distinctive hybrid which is unclassifiable.
Speaking about the meaningful lyrics behind the song, Taylor stated: “The lyrics follow the personal story of a person going through domestic abuse. Continuously beaten down by their abuser, emotionally and physically, they come to face the reality of their situation and sees their ‘partner’ for the monster they truly are.”
Geo Moon and Taylor’s influences differ drastically which helps to shape the overall sound of the release. Taylor noted: “I mostly take my influences from The Pretty Reckless, Joan Jett and P!NK in terms of vocals.” With Geo noting: “I enjoy listening to melodic techno and progressive psy-trance mixtapes where I borrow synthesised sounds for my Rock productions.”
A collaboration to the absolute latter, the single was recorded in two separate studios: the production and mix-master were made in Geo Moon’s personal studio whereas the vocals were recorded in Not Now Norman’s home studio.
Looking to the future, Geo and Taylor will be releasing a further track together – a ‘distant cousin’ of ‘Run Boy’ – with further details to follow soon.
‘Run Boy (No Longer)’ will be available on Friday 19th February on all major music streaming platforms including Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, I-tunes, YouTube and Tidal.
Taylor Mitchell – Vocals
Bodhi Turnbull – Drums
Zander Brown – Guitar
Lara Hindhaugh – Bass
Despite leaving college with a degree and going for several interviews, nobody was willing to take on singer Taylor Mitchell due to her disabilities. It wasn’t until guitarist Zander Brown approached her to do lighthearted recording sessions as a confidence booster that it was discovered that Taylor had a hidden talent … an incredible singing voice. As well as expanding her vocal range, the band has also grown into 4 members with the talented Lara Hindhaugh depping for multi instrumentalist Jimmy Manningham on bass and young prodigy Bodhi Turnbull on drums. And so Not Now Norman was born. The bands lyrics reflect Taylors determination to succeed regardless, and are delivered in a manner true to their message.
Known for their sassy vocals, blunt delivery as well as their confrontational and in-your-face lyrics, Not Now Norman perform as a punchy Intergenerational Hard Rock/Alternative Rock Band. With their debut EP ‘The End of the Day’ and their latest single ‘Little Cheryl’, the band have grown in popularity across the North East and beyond. Since their debut single in 2019, they have supported bands such as LazyRave, Follow Deep and Ashes of Iron, they have been nominated for awards and have been played several times on BBC Introducing In The North East.
