Noctae – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?

D: First of all, i’m Daniele the co-founder and bass player!

If NIN, Mötley Crüe, The Prodigy had a son… we’re those bastards sons!

PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.

D: We’re born in Vatican City on 2019’s Halloween night.

Eloy & Me used to front two alternative acts from Italy, Beyond The Fallen and Shiny Black Anthem.

As NÖCTÆ we wanted to find our signature sound, and offer something different and unique

inspired by rock legends Trent Reznor, Marilyn Manson, Nikki Sixx and future icons BMTH and Motionless In White.

After the lockdown we added two pieces to our combo, Andrea on guitar and Samuele on drums.

PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?

D: The legends we talked about before inspired our sound, and lyrics come from personal experiences…good and bad!

PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?

D: We’d love to connect with people through our songs, and the best way is to play live all around the world! That’s our aspiration (and maybe a Grammy one day)!

PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?

D: We are so proud of our debut album SHOCKOLATE and our brand new video BLOSSOM, both out since May 12th… this is us!

PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?

D: We’re very old school, not great self-promoters on social media etc. we do our best with our live performances.

We’re definitely not a bedroom band! We prefer festivals!

PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?

D: We do everything by ourselves! We’ll play a special concert in a tattoo convention for the release of SHOCKOLATE, and we’re managing to play in Japan this fall!

PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?

D: Just like Trent Reznor once said… steal the music but listen to it deeply!

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

D: Shape Of My Heart by Sting. For me that is the perfect song!

PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?

D: I’m still buying cds, and for me listening to an album while having the booklet in your hand still a magic feeling…

I’d like to come back in time, more than changing the present days!

I’d like to see people forgetting about social media trends, and reconnecting with real things.

PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?

D: We’ve just released our debut album and we’re promoting it, but we already have some new ideas for the future!

PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?
