Mossie – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
M: We are an Indie Rock Band, it’s all about Rock N Roll
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
M: We formed as a band in August 2019 and began to write music right away. We released our first song in October 2019 and followed that up with our second Demo track in January 2020 (which are available on Spotify). We re currently writing our Debut EP which has had backing from BBC Introducing, This Feeling Promoters and we are also in sponsorship talks – so we are hoping for big things from the EP.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
M: We probably have a wide range of musical influences, not always with the same vibe of music. All of the band have their own taste but we all generally like the same kind of music. We are fans of The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Stone Roses, Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene, Arctic Monkeys. . . Influencers from all era’s really.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
M: We are making music and that’s all that really matters to us, We’ve come a long way in a short time and we aim to keep the ball rolling. The goal is to make sure that our Debut Album is worth listening to and we will keep writing until we feel we have the right tunes!
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
M: We all write the songs, sometimes they are based around the music and an idea someone has had, sometimes they are based around the lyrics that the lead singer (Adam Lavant) would write. Our newest single due out this summer is based around a cool bass riff that Bassist Brad Jennings came up with. We generally write about real life issues, stuff that happens everyday that we generally consider the norm and girls too 😉
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
M: All our shows are on Facebook, and Bands In Town and we promote through Spotify also. If you bob our name in google you would usually get a load of stuff to do with us pop up, including our gig dates!
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
M: I think it’s easy to do, we have to move with the times and I definitely download music, why not when there is so much at your fingertips, any track you like!
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
M: So many tracks to choose from. As Lead Singer Lavant writes the lyrics he would answer this and probably say ‘Nice To Be Out’ by Stereophonics. Lyrically it’s an awesome write, he has the notes from this song tattooed around his forearm.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
M: When someone sings a song and doesn’t connect with it. Music is a way to show emotion, seems some performers don’t have any emotion?? Oh when the bar closes – that’s really f*king annoying!!
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
M: We have been approached by a label to be signed, we declined the offer but it was a nice feeling to know that someone rates u highly. You get little Eureka music moments as a musician. . .they happen every so often in life!
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
M: Our EP! Watch out of it landing around August time!
PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
M: We have lots of show dates planned in around Yorkshire and Lancashire – You should come to them all and buy us a beer because you are awesome and that’s a cool thing to do! See ya there!
