MCRAE – New Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to talk to us, been a while. How’s it going?

M: Hey Guys, thanks for having us back! We’re just happy to be here.

PD: What have you been upto since we last spoke?

M: We’ve just released our EP and played our return to the stage and we’re still blissed out from just getting back to doing what we love.

PD: You just released your debut EP How to Start A Fire. Can you tell us a bit about that?

M: We’re really overwhelmed with the response – our first EP as MCRAE has been a long time coming and we’re just glad people still care.

PD: Is there a theme running through it or do any of the tracks link together?

M: We spent a bit of time on the running order we think hstaf is a good opener whereas tsf has a build up leading to a big ending. Lyrically they’re always a few links and themes but I think that’s just because it’s one person writing the lyrics.

PD: What’s been the general reaction to it so far?

M: Really positive and it’s still quite an alien feeling people love listening to our music and coming to shows

PD: Have you got a particular favourite track from the EP?

Jake – Subjective

Jordan – Time Spent Freely

Aidan – Lucy

Joe – HTSAF

PD: You recently played your first show back at a Sold Out Gullivers in Manchester. How was that?

M: It was actually wild, the energy in the room was just unbelievable and it was a high start to finish.

PD: Any stand out moments?

M: We got Joe & Oli who produced our EP and supported us in their band the av club up on stage for our encore and it was just really nice for us all to share that moment after so much hard work and build up.

PD: Finally as the year progresses, what can we expect from you?

M: We’re so so busy, we’ve got shows in Manchester and Liverpool in the next two months as well as recording a new single and music video in October. Good to be back!!
