MCRAE – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

M: Indie Band based in Manchester called MCRAE

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

M: Me (Jake) and Aidan have been in bands together since we were kids, Joe’s my cousin – when the stars aligned he and Jordan who we met at college joined the band! We’ve been playing around the U.K. together for a few years now as MCRAE

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

M: Influences differ from time to time, at the moment bands like the academic, bad suns and inhaler are having a big influence on the writing style currently – Aidan

Musical without a doubt Chad smith from chilli peppers. The way he feels the music and plays round with dynamics so much is insane. One hell of a drummer and definitely an inspiration to many.- Joe

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

M: We just want to play our music to people around the world!

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

M: We all write and work on the songs but I usually do the lyrics, they’re about everything to out of body experiences to ketamine which is actually the same song

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

M: By doing interviews with lovey folk such as yourself and of course all the usual social media stuff – we try and gig as much as we can but that’s obviously not been doable recently!

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

M: Yeah I mean most people stream or download music online but that’s how nearly everything is or will be soon it could be better and one day it might be .

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

M: Add it up – Violent Femmes

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

M: Loud chewers and Austerity

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

M: Watching Aidan furiously vomit 5 mins before stage time at a gig in Sheffield and then seeing him pull it together and perform

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

M: Working on our set to get back to playing live and releasing our EP How To Start A Fire

PD: What music have you available online?

M: You can listen to us here
