Maidon – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
M: I am a singer-songwriter who makes catchy pop-rock songs with reminiscences of past decades.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
M: Originally from Spain, for several years I took part in different bands. After some time off music and already settled in London, two years ago I started a new indie project preceded by a period of fresh creativity. The rest of the story cannot be told, it must be heard.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
M: Musical influences come mainly from the 80’s and 90’s. British and American pop & rock has been the base of my music. Non-musical ones include the world surrounding me, lovers or my mum.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
M: This is a good one. Probably the same as most of the musicians who write songs and have a passion for music, to have the opportunity to be heard by as many people as possible. To be able to play in front of thousands in a remarkable venue.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
M: I write my own songs as the majority of the world artists do. They are about very different things, whatever comes up to my mind when the inspiration shows.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
M: Through the band’s official website and socials. With a minimum budget we also sometimes manage to do a small PR campaign.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
M: It is something that it is part of the digital world in which we live. If you pay a small and reasonable price as you do in iTunes I think it is a fair deal for both the artist and the listener. However, I personally prefer streaming as the way people can listen to all the music they want.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
M: I honestly wouldn’t be able to name one, there so many song I wish I’d written that it is no possible to pick one as the only one. But if you want any of them; “Starman” by David Bowie – it is a perfect song right from the start and all the way to the end.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
M: I could mention here as some of the main; rudeness in general and disdain about people’s work and creation.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
M: Probably every time I have been lucky enough to write a good song I have had that feeling.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
M: At the moment I writing more songs for this project and trying to promote the tracks already out there – which is not easy. I am also considering other projects and always on the lookout for new opportunities.
PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
M: There are no scheduled shows at the moment but you cannot miss the first opportunity you have to see Maidon live because without a doubt it will literally blow your mind.
