Madre Sun – Interview

Madre Sun – Interview

Interview with Tyson Schenker of Madre Sun and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

Tyson: We are Madre Sun, a mix of Brazilian and English musicians making good time rock ‘n’ roll!

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

Tyson: I met Eduardo (Cavina) whilst we were both working for a motorcycle company. He mentioned him and his brother Matt were putting a new band together, and suggested that we should have a jam. We met up, started working on music, things went really well and we recorded our EP 5 months later.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Tyson: As a band we are influenced by Led Zep, Alice in chains, Guns n Roses.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

Tyson: we are looking forward to recording our album next year. We can’t wait to get on tour and finally play some shows! It’s been a tough one this year, but hopefully it won’t be too long until we’re back on the stage.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

Tyson: The songs are about everyday life. We all come to the rehearsal room with different ideas, then jam them out and see where it goes.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

Tyson: mostly through social media, but it would be nice to have a billboard on the sunset strip one day!

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

Tyson: I think any way for music to be shared and heard is a good thing.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

Tyson: Dream On by Aerosmith – the greatest song ever written, in my opinion!

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

Tyson: not being able to play shows at the moment!

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

Tyson: Playing onstage with the Scorpions at Wacken Festival 2006 and releasing our first Madre Sun video for ‘Trick Up The Sleeve’ (link –

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

Tyson: We are about to release an acoustic cover by the band Love which is sounding amazing, and the video is even better. We have also written our album so we will start to record in 2021.

What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

Tyson: you can listen to our EP on all good streaming services. We also have a CD available at
