Luna In Sanguinem – New Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views with- MICHAEL EISENHAUER Co Founder and Guitar of band LUNA IN SANGUINEM (

PD:  How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?

EvilMike- I am just a normal guy who fell in Love with Metal the first time I heard it. No other music matters to me.

Luna In Sanguinem is a combination of everything we grew up on during the 80’s until now and anything in between.

PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.

EvilMike- I grew up in a town along the Lake Michigan Front close to Wisconsin and just North of Chicago. We didn’t have much to do besides swimming, hiking trails with friends and our radios, riding our BMX bikes, skipping school, going to parties and Attending local Metal concerts. Of course the town was ruff and so were we.

Eventually most of us gravitated towards getting instruments and playing in bands. Most didn’t stick with it and a lot of people ended up dead, in Prison or just turned out to be posers and decided RAP was better so they don’t even play anymore. A lot of us didn’t have the talent to continue so I remember surpassing a lot of our local headbangers along the way.

PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?

EvilMike- What inspires me is hard to say. I couldn’t imagine not playing and writing. It’s what I have always loved more than life. I guess when you truly love something you don’t need encouragement or outside motivation. I can say I never once started a band for money or women. I never had a problem with getting a date and have been happily married for many years so I play for the glory. When others love what I do this is what makes me even more happy.

PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?

EvilMike- just to take this ride as far as it will go to the end of the line. Enjoying every step of the way.  Playing for my self and my happiness first. Yes I am confident but you have to be so I know great things will come.

Do I expect to be like Judas Priest? Of course not! But to be able to rub it in all the faces from past so called friends and family who said I can’t do it and Metal is a waste of time and that I would amount to nothing is going to feel so damn good! In fact I already make them all jealous so I am smiling.

PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?

EvilMike- So many but I just returned from Colombia and the shows were absolutely amazing and I will never forget.

PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?

EvilMike- Frustrating! Your correct! We never had this issue before. Now there is so much to sift thru making it even harder. Everyone with a drum machine and a guitar has a band, everyone with a instrument and friends all wanting to do a cover band or make a demo or cd when the wife allows it as a way out of the house has a band. It’s the new bowling or dart league on the weekend.

I don’t disrespect these guys but come on! You have to ask the wife or girlfriend if it’s ok to play and do what you love? Never!!!

PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?

EvilMike- hustle! You have to be a sales man or like a politician now. Of course all without looking like a douche bag or rubbing others the wrong way since also now everyone has such sensitive feelings LOL!!!

It’s ruff and especially when the news is pounding it on hard that people aren’t gonna have any money soon. Or that the next catastrophe is around the corner every waking moment.

My bands are taking the winter off actually.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?

EvilMike- Mmmm…a double edged sword as they say. On one side of this blade it is sharp and helps all bands far and wide. The other edge is dull and keeps a band from moving forward when they struggle to make any more money for traveling and new merchandise that also helps with traveling and other expenses like new artwork or recording.

Spotify only is good for those who understand it well and that’s all they do is sit and promote Spotify who in turn reaps most of the rewards and grows like a hungry beast. Band camp is by far better and should get everyone’s full attention.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

EvilMike- as a fan of Metal this is a way I would have thought as a kid but since I have been making my own music i honestly couldn’t say. I feel all music is there to inspire us to make our own not to be trapped in a box of wishing we could do what has already been done.

The only song I can imagine saying this about is the hellish intro Slayer made for Hell Awaits. But it doesn’t make me wish I did it. It only makes me want to cover it in my own way.

PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?

EvilMike- yes, I would not allow a select few to drive all the sheep into banning anyone or anything. Extreme music is supposed to be offensive. If you don’t like it throw it away and don’t listen. But spending all day trying to convince others to ban anyone or anything is ridiculous in my opinion. People are smart enough to decide this for themselves.

PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?

EvilMike- Final Mix on the Album Luna in Sanguinem- Flu World Order. And also Evil Incarnate new DM album.

PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?

EvilMike- Thanks \m/
