The Lucid Archetype have delivered a stunning EP in the guise of 2.0 . Offering 7 tracks and coming in at just over 25 minutes, 2.0 convinces that the ambient prog metal heroes mean business.
Beginning with the haunting ‘Imperium’, the listener is fed with an atmospheric delve into ambient restrained rock at its best. The track builds to a ferocious crescendo of 
sound that quickly fades as it draws you back to safety. ‘Causality’ hits you in the guts as the excellent scream vocals battle against the clean vocals whilst the music drives beautifully in the background. ‘Alt+del’ grasps at a more sinister sound. The guitars work especially well to compliment the overall ambience. Title track ‘2.0’ has a more classic style as it thunders along. There are some clever production tricks here that adds to just how good this band are.
‘Theta’ explodes right from the start. It has a crippling urgency about it, almost a hint of 
desperation…. of the need to desire. What a hugely powerful track this is. It is easily the best track here. ‘Summon the Heterodox’ scares me, it is that good, it scares me. There’s some outstanding playing here. Closing the EP is the ball breaking ‘Actus Reus’. Again, this band knows how to write a track that just pulls you in, grabs you by the throat, slaps you in the face and then throws you to the ground like an unwanted piece of garbage.
As I said earlier 2.0 shows that The Lucid Archetype mean business……and business is good.
