LeatherJacks – Interview

Interview with Mauro Cordeiro of LeatherJacks and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

MC: Hey Pete! Thank you so much for our interview, and thanks to everyone who´s reading here! WE ROCK! About your question, Pete… I´d say that I´m an artist that only tries to make the best I can to Entertain people and to have Fun with them, you know? to make´em feel the best makes me feel the best. You see my point?

I think that´s the type of artist I define myself.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

MC: I love Rock since I was 5. My mom had a “Best Of Movie Soundtracks” vinyl, you know? There was Survivor´s “Eye Of The Tiger”. When I listened to that song, I remember I went crazy, ´cause in 90´s the brazilian TV Broadcast GLOBO, used their song as an intro for the Boxe Competitions, with Tyson, etc… And I always loved that Punchy Chords intro.

But at guitar, I started out by 10 years old, and then the story goes on and on. Bands, projects, learning, studying. And here I am! Music Lover, Music Survivor.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

MC: My favourite bands are Iron Maiden, Dio, Judas Priest, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake… You know, the basics of the 80s, Pete! A.O.R. Bands such as Journey, Asia, Toto, etc… Wow, so many goodies… Golden era, isn´t?

My non-musical influences, I´d now say that are mainly the Health Professionals that are fighting against this virus. But I also admire all the great Digital Animators and people from the movie industry, VFX etc… They´re such talented guys… Awesome!

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

MC: Wow, SO MANY, Pete! It wouldn´t fit here!

What I really know is that I wanna Rock AHAH!

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

MC: I write all my songs, arrangements, and also work on production, mixing and mastering!

A lot of things, but it worths haha!

Most of the songs themes are about life experiences, or some ficcional characters, or scifi, or love, or politics, the system, misteries… I´m really and always opened for all themes and subjects to write about… Without barriers.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

MC: I´m my own PR, Manager, Producer, and Agent. Unfortunately, due to quarantine, I still didn´t find a perfect lineup neither gigs to play. But actually in Brazil, everything is pretty tough, ´cause the Rock scene here barely exists for Original/Authoral bands. So… It´s rare to have to gigs for Original Bands such as mine. But I´ll never give up!

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

MC: I think it´s totally valid, and cool, but if you like the artist, please, think that he had LOTS of work and hours of dedication, mixing, mastering, arranging, producing, etc. So if you have a Heart, think about BUYING or DONATING any amount of money, ´cause our profession is like any another average one. The glamour is only at the front row. The backstages are TOUGH!

So, guys and girls… Think about that!

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

MC: I wish I was the writer of Eye Of The TIGER, of course haha! ´Cause it´s the soundtrack of my life, in many aspects and point of views that I have… About never giving up, being tough (Not only physically, but Mentally, you know?!). So this is why I´d love to be the writer of this song! Would be amazing!

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

MC: I think arrogant, envious people, gossips… pffff… That makes me pissed off!

I mean… People that actually aren´t Nothing, but thinks they´re kings… Complicated.

And of course the cliches such as: Long Queues, Construction Noises, extremely Loud Music, (believe me, even for a Rocker, there´s a limit to everything ahahah, and I don´t wanna get def ahahh!).

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

MC: Well, mainly it´s being here, being in many cool places like your page, sharing my life with your fans, followers, making friends, making music, meeting so many cool people. I think this is the best reckognizement a musician can have, and that makes me really proud of myself. It´s like: “Wow… I did it, let´s do it more and more!”

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

MC: For now I´m promoting my new album “Extremely Dangerous” and always interacting with the fans, engaging my audience, doing some lives, radios, the coolest part of the work!

I mean, I love to record, but I love much more to play and to be with the fans, live streams, radios, magazines, webzines, etc…

I REALLY LOVE THAT! It´s the best part of it all! Priceless!

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
