Kill, The Icon – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

K,TI: KILL, THE ICON! are a protest punk band, consisting of drums and super-distorted bass guitar.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

K,TI: We formed out of the ashes of anti-fascist protests. Our activism now takes another shape, and evolves with our music.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

K,TI: Musical influences include Dead Kennedys, Death From Above 1979! Non-musical influences include whistleblowers and journalists who have risked their lives and careers to expose corruption: Daphne Caruana Galizia, Buddhist Monks in 1960s Vietnam, Facebook whistleblowers.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

K,TI: To shape a world where kleptocrats are in jail, corrupt politicians are made to live on Universal Credit, whistleblowers are offered knighthoods (which they would then decline). To also make everyone aware of the anti-work movement.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

K,TI: KILL, THE ICON! writes songs about whistleblowers, corrupt politicians and middle-managers that only serve to oppress workers.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

K,TI: With great difficulty.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

K,TI: It’s not been the same since we stopped having to wait three hours to download Eminem MP3s over Kazaa.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

K,TI: Joy Division – Love WIll Tear Us Apart

Why? The royalties.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

K,TI: Billionaires. Millionaires. Landlords.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

K,TI: Seeing our billboard in Times Square was pretty cool!

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

K,TI: We have another single “Bourdain” ready to release in early 2022, and we will be recording a few more singles.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

K,TI: Our debut single “Buddhist Monk” is available on Spotify, Bandcamp, Amazon and all good public libraries.
