Keeper – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

K: I’m a hyper pop, punk and an alternative artist from London. Basically, Hyper Punk or Nu Punk.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

K: I first started my musical journey with a Piano, but that was years go (Can’t play any now). From there, I moved onto guitar and started playing in local bands and eventualy joining the  ACM for music performance. Then I front maned a band which I left that to play lead guitar for the band Jack The Envious. Unfortunatley, due to covid, that basically stopped, so I had to find a different musical outlet during the lockdown world. And along came “Keeper”, and honestly, I’ve been loving it.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

K: Musical ones; Neck Deep, EnterShikari and Nothing Nowhere. Non-musical ones, ( now this is a slight curve-ball) the band; Lower Than Atlantis. Not because of the music they made (which was amazing btw), but their work ethic. They’re super hard-working guys and to have been droped by a major label, and then come back with their own best selling independent album… that’s  phenomenal!

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

K: Having people know the words to your songs is honestly up there, so is touring the world, seeing different places. But honestly, I just wanna make a living doing what I like. I don’t want loads, or have all the fancy stuff. But I’d take a small house and a working car on finance.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

K: Its a collaborative effort. I make all the instrumentals with my buddy from “As Everything Unfolds”, Jon Cass. Without him, I’d pretty much be nowhere. After that, my sister helps with lyrics and melodies (not all the time, but it helps to have another vocal ear to bounce ideas off).

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

K: Insta mostly, Facebook second. I’ve started doing Twitter and Tiktok. The latter I’ve always found quite daunting. But I’m making progress, getting out of my comfort zone more, and pushing for the stars.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

K: Go for it. Were all broke. Spotify is too expensive anyway, and artists don’t get enough from a single-track play. Why not save ur money, and buy a gig ticket or some merch. Something physical that you can experience with someone or something you can hold onto and touch . They help the Band or Artist out, way more anyway.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

K: Oooooo, that’s a hard one. I’ma take an easy answer though. Any single Ed Sheeran son, ever!  Like we can beat around the bush, you may not like his music, but you can’t deny the talent. Those songs are meticulously well crafted, each one is a work of art.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

K: Tidy up after yourself. You’ve ordered Macdonalds, but your trash in the bin!! Don’t just leave it there. You finish a drink, don’t throw it on the ground, bin please. We all use this space, why not be nicer to the person next to you and have some basic human decency.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

K: When I was playing guitar for my band JTE. We had a slot supporting DreamState at the UnderWorld in Camden. I’ve seen bands play it a lot. And sure, it wasn’t our gig. But it was still sold out, I still have friends and family there. Loved every second. It’s an iconic venue, and I’ve been lucky enough to play it.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

K: Music Videos. Soooo mannnnyyyyyyyyyy. Filming next July 12th. Got 2 done, and will be filming another after. Basically, all the songs are done. Just need to start setting up the releases.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

K: you can find me on all streaming platforms, all the typical Social media like Insta, Grinder, and Club Penguin. No merch just yet. But You can buy tickets to my next gig in London, July 2nd. Tickets are all over the Insta and Facebook.
