Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
KTU: We are a pop punk band based in Peterborough UK
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
KTU: The band have been around nearly 2 years – I (Chris) started the band with someone who is no longer in the band. But when we auditioned for a drummer, we had Dan turn up with a full drum kit in the boot of a Ford KA and we hired him on the spot just because we were that impressed. A few months ago, Myself & Dan met Mike through mutual friends and he started as our bassist but then he changed to become our lead guitarist and backup vocalist. This is the current line-up: Dan Shamma (Drummer), Chris Hicks (Rhythm Guitar + Lead Vocals), Mike Houldin (Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals).
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
KTU: We take influence from bands such as Green Day, Sum 41, Blink 182, Neck Deep, State Champs etc.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
KTU: Our dreams and goals would be to play alongside some of the artists that influence us and to be heard by everyone. To write music that people and ourselves can enjoy
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
KTU: We write the songs together as a group effort, coming up with ideas for guitars, drums and lyrics. The songs themselves tend to be about whatever we’re feeling at the time or topics we are interested in. We just let the process come naturally and try not to force any songs.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
KTU: Due to covid we have not yet played a show and are limited to promoting our band on Social Media and through Radio Stations. All of our information can be found here:
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
KTU: I think it’s good in the sense that people get to hear your music but if they like it, they should support the artist and make sure to either buy the track or merch.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
KTU: As a band we have very varying music tastes so this is such a widespread answer and can’t really be put down to one song, we have such a wide musical appreciation.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
KTU: We don’t really have any pet peeves as such
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
KTU: For the band, I think it has to be recording and releasing our debut single despite an ongoing pandemic across the globe. It has taken a lot of time and effort but we are so proud to have released music that we can call our own
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
KTU: So, we currently have an EP in the works which will be released later this year and we are really excited to show it to everyone.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
KTU: Currently the music we have online is on all major streaming platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Deezer etc. Our merch site is coming soon.
