Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
KJ: Creative and Musical I’m a little of everything I have found my home in Rock but I definitely shift and crossover from Genre to Genre
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
KJ: Small town girl with big dreams and I guess the dreaming never stops.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
KJ: I have so many Musical my biggest influence was my Grandfather.
I love Manson huge fan, David Bowie and George Michael they definitely inspired me to write however I feel and shift through whatever genre I feel or have felt at the time. There’s so many to list Joan Jett just doing whatever she wanted and making it happen being that girl that played guitar and went for it. Angry Anderson (Rose Tattoo), Blondie the late Chrissy Amphlett so many inspire me. My friends, family and most important our music family we have built around us we couldn’t do this without them.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
KJ: To keep dreaming and keep writing and just keep creating our own Rock and Roll history with the band. I love writing so to work with and to write for other artists is a goal. Just like my Grandfather. I want to one day win a golden guitar I know its country music but that’s my first musical language so I will go my hardest at it. I’m not one to give up so we’ll see.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
KJ: I write they are my stories, I guess. The Album had a lot of personal songs on there about losing my grandmother and I guess when I write sometimes, I’m writing my way through the dark and healing at the same time.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
KJ: Every way I can I’m also that girl that hits the streets and milk bars and puts posters up. If there’s a window I can promote a gig on and who we are I will do it.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
KJ: I think being free isn’t cool maybe its ok if it’s in a controlled environment where the artists allow a free download but to get everything for free it’s tough on artists.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
KJ: This one I’m not sure about
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
KJ: Artists that play live and can’t give their followers the time of day. If you can’t acknowledge the people supporting you then I can’t find time supporting them as artists I mean where would we be if these people weren’t at our shows supporting what we do.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
KJ: Absolutely all of it and sharing this journey with my Grandfather, Mars, Dave and Adrian. Just having my Grandfather see us travel, write and hit stages was something I will always hold on too.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
KJ: Now we can record and play live again our focus is more shows and smashing out as much content as we can.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
KJ: The Phoenix Album is on most of the online stores followed with our new Track Dancing With The Devil on all digital platforms or you can catch us at a show for some merch.
