Joe Hawkes is a solo artist based in South-West London, who is inspired by the DIY pop of Metronomy, the playfulness of Vampire Weekend and the self-confidence of Self Esteem. Following last year’s well-received EP In The Ashes of the Scalded Earth
Joe Hawkes returns with his second full-length album Gratitude With Attitude. Recorded mostly in his flat during lockdown, this record is more inward-looking than his previous work. As the tongue-in-cheek ‘self-help’ style title suggests, the album speaks about learning to accept and appreciate what you have, and the possibility of being compassionate without being a pushover.
