Jaws Of Life – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

JOL: Pop punk

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

JOL: We are 4 friends who came together in the pandemic pretty much, me and Rhys began writing songs and when we decided to make it a band Steve and Tim joined the ranks

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

JOL: We’re into everything to be honest. In terms of bands that influence our music I’d say bands like New Found Glory and blink182 .

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

JOL: We just wanted to be able to play music for a living, the bigger we get the better. We just want to be able to do what we love. If that means living in a van for most of the year that’s fine by us

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

JOL: Me and Rhys will tend to write the songs where they are like 90% done and then show it to Tim and Steve. Those guys will always have something to add to it which always makes the song that little bit special. All 4 of us bring our own thing to the band and it really doesn’t work without all 4 of us

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

JOL: Anyway we can to be honest. We’re on all social media platforms and just word of mouth. I’m doing some weddings this year so will try throw one of 2 of our songs in there too 😂

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

JOL: Personally, I’m ok with it, I mean if everyone went out and bought physical copies that would be great but the world just isn’t like that anymore. It does have its advantages as it’s really convenient for the listener. We’re just at the stage where we want people to hear our band and we don’t really care How people do it just as long as they do.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

JOL: That’s a tough one. It’s an obvious choice but I think Lit – my own worst enemy has to be up there. That song is such a banger and considering how old it is it’s still so relevant which just goes to show how good of a song it is.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

JOL: Rudeness, it costs nothing to be polite and it’s nice to be nice.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

JOL: We’re such a new band I’m sure this will change but I’d say having the masters back from our first few songs. It’s like finishing a painting or something. It’s there forever and we are super proud of these songs

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

JOL: We are currently promoting our mix tape and the first single stargazing is out now! We have a tonne of songs in the pipeline ready to go but we don’t want to rush anything. So for now this year will be all about getting people to know who we are

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

JOL: It’s available on all platforms!
