Jacoby – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

J: We’re a new psych rock / pop group called Jacoby.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

J: We formed in 2020 and recorded our debut album at Rockfield over the course of 12 months. It was a funny time because of Covid restrictions, but we got there!!

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

J: Too many to mention. We have loads. Too many to mention!! You’ll have to listen to the album and decide for yourself.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

J: To be as successful as possible and to play to large audiences and be an established band.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

J: We write our songs collectively. They’re about the usual things, love, life, hopes, dreams and aspirations, but I suppose this album has a common theme about it which is embracing change, getting older, making better decisions and not living with regrets. Live for the moment. Make it happen.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

J: By speaking to people like yourself! Haha, nah the usual platforms. Lets hope the music can speak for itself and do the promotional work for use

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

J: I think its great. To have access to so music at the touch of a button is brilliant. I do like physical format too though. I don’t need to own 5000 records but a decent collection of what I really like is fine. The 12 inch LP with great artwork on the sleeve to submerge yourself in is one of the finest forms of art in the world. I hope it never ceases to exist.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

J: Anything from Forever Changes by Love. A truly, beautiful record.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

J: None spring to mind. I’m pretty chilled these days.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

J: Finishing the debut Jacoby album. It’s a interesting record with lots of twists and turns.  I think it’s a great collection of songs.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

J: Writing songs for the follow up album.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

J: We release our first single “Freedom Ain’t No Sin” on Friday 2nd December across all streaming platforms. The album will be out in the spring of 2023.
