Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
HW: We are Hugo´s Will! I can tell you that we are strict rock n roll, we are straight rock n roll with a twist of a modern touch, a modern powertrio that you can dance and shake your head to.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
HW: The timing was finally right for us three to join forces. I mean this band has evolved , you know….. it’s like if two worlds collided. We have these two brothers that make marveles dark, gloomy and heavy music and we have myself coming from a more singer songwriter, straight rock n roll kind of thing with a glitch of 70 s rock. These ingredients and worlds collide, and when we create music together magic appears. Our very first single “She goes for the throught” is out now and we have a lot of great songs just waiting to be released upon the world. The world needs some new classic rock!
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
HW: Our influences are all the good music out there and our non-influences is all the bad music out there.
All people that make´s music with a nerve and with their hearts we salute! It could be pop, it could be country, it could be metal. We love music and our influences are from band in the past and from band in the present.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
HW: My dream is to play at Wembley, my dream is that one day my sister’s son will look to his uncle and say what a marvelous and great rockstar. And to achieve those goals, well we have to play live and tour the hell of us!
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
HW: We write the songs as a system, all three of us are involved in the writing process. Some one comes up with a badass bass groove, someone sprinkles it with some beautiful guitars and the lyrics and the vocals come as if it was given to us from another dimension. it’s hard to describe .
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
HW: We try to create a positive and genuine aura around us through our music and visual impressions. Right now we are working with Roger at Voiceman Music as our PR-agent and he is doing a great job, our main job is to create the music and then work with the right people around us to help spread our music. Right now we update our fans with our progress writing new material and finishing the next single called Star Whistler.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
HW: We don´t mind. It’s a great opportunity for marketing in general. People from all over the world can discover us, a small rock outfit from northern sweden. Then it’s up to us to manage the attention and keep making great music.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
HW: The first song that comes to mind is “Killing yourself to live” written by Black Sabbath. I mean Geezer Butler writing these incredible lyrics. It’s marvelous , no it´s more than marvelous, I find it hard to describe my feelings for it. But when that song kicks in I’m like in my own universe like on another planet. This song is so strong on so many levels. I mean the basslines, the heavy guitar, the drums and the chilling voice of Ozzy. That’s the song I wished that I wrote.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
HW: A bad bass sound in a band. Bad lyrics to a good song. Ice Cream and soup in my mustasch. A bad hair day at gig night. No snow in november among others 😉
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
HW: For Hugo´s will it´s our first single! We planned this for a while and now the stars are in the right positions. We have done plenty of other stuff in other bands that we are proud of but that’s another story.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
HW: We are in constant pre-production and have a lot of songs that we are working on. Right now we are about to send our next single for mixing.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
HW: You can find us on all major digital plattforms, but please visit our labels bandcamp https://idlenorth.bandcamp.com
