House of Wolves – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

HOW: We are a rock/alt rock band that combines many different influences and years of experience doing different projects to make a really big sound, which can be seen in our music.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

HOW: The band is made up of Henry who writes the songs, sings, and plays guitar, Tom on drums and percussion and Jake on bass. Jake met Henry through a friend at work when his old band split up and he was looking for a new one. We played with a few drummers before calling Tom who Henry had met on a night out and luckily kept his number. We started playing together in June 2020 and instantly hit it off. Because of the pandemic we haven’t been able to do as much as we want but we’re still making it work. We’ve all been in bands previously, but non that have made it as far as this like recording tracks and being on the radio.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

HOW: We have a variety of influences which can be seen in our songs. Henrys influences include Jimi Hendrix, Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Black Keys and Phoenix. Toms include Royal Blood, Lower than Atlantis, Biffy Clyro and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Jakes’ are Tame Impala, Gorillaz and Red Hot Chili Peppers. We don’t really have any non-musical influences.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

HOW: We hope to make something out of the band but we’re taking it slowly. Since we released our first few singles, we’re hoping to record either an EP or an album next. We have had a good reception from our tracks so far, with a decent number of streams, radio play for all of our tracks and a good turnout for the gigs we have done. This has definitely given us a boost so we think that the new music we come out with can do well too.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

HOW: Henry writes our songs; he usually writes about whatever is on his mind at the time or talks about past experiences. They usually don’t have a deeper or specific meaning, but people can take from them what they want.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

HOW: We promote ourselves through various social media platforms and word of mouth. We have only been able to do 2 shows since we formed due to the pandemic, but we have had other thinks to promote like radio play and articles/podcasts etc.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

HOW: It’s a good way to get music out there especially during the pandemic, it would’ve been almost impossible for people to hear our tracks without the use of Spotify, SoundCloud etc.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

HOW: Henrys is little lies by Fleetwood Mac because the melody is timeless. Toms is lover, you should comer over by Jeff Buckley. Jakes is soul to squeeze by RHCP because the bassline is incredible yet so simple

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

HOW: Henrys is early mornings; Toms is false apologies and Jakes is when you let someone go on the road and they don’t say thank you.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

HOW: Collectively it was when we got played on the radio for the first time. This was the first time for any of us in any bands that we had achieved this and it gave us a real sense of accomplishment.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

HOW: Hopefully when we get back into the practice room we can carry on working on the unfinished songs we were working on from before. Also, Henry has been working on some new tracks during lockdown that we haven’t been able to do as a band yet, so we’ll have lots to be going on with that.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

HOW: We have 3 singles released on various platforms which I’ll link below.
