Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
HD: You would think this would be a easy question to answer, as artist we are believers. We believe in the art/music we mold and the sounds we create. We pull from so many genres and influences that as artist we are an eclectic group but we have one vision and that is to get the music of Hope Darling out to the world.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
HD: Hope Darling was forged from the idea that music was our escape, our bond, and our outlet. Conceived as a cover band among friends just jamming out, eventually evolving into an all-original band. Hope Darling has had various members come and go but the current line up is devoted to creating music that
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
HD: I can easily say that each member of Hope Darling brings various influences to our music and sound. Influences ranging from rock, country, punk, rap and even classical music.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
HD: The dream is take the music around the world and make Hope Darling a household name. The goal is to take the music around the world and make Hope Darling a household name.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
HD: Gabriel is the primary songwriter, but collectively every member of the band writes and finishes the songs. The songs reflect experience, events, moments and people in our lives. Imagery thru sound and storytelling with a rock sensibility.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
HD: Just like any other band, artist or performer social media platforms and internet ads are the go too methods.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
HD: We each have our various views on downloading music. As fans of music we like the accessibility, as musicians and original music artist we question where is the value of our art going. One view is that Youtube has become the new radio and the value of a song is measured by views and thru exposure of advertising and sponsors.
PD: What song do you wish you had written and why?
HD: I think speaking for all of us we could easily generate a list of songs that we wish we could of written but personally speaking it would be hard to narrow it down to one song. If there was a reason to why Its that one song that makes you want to dance, to move, to rage, stand still or simply stir an emotion.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
HD: One of our biggest pet peeves is showing up to a planned gig and seeing that the venue is not prepared for us for example stage not ready, sound not ample enough for our gear or simply schedule is off but we adjust because the show must go on.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
HD: We have many highlights in this musical journey from playing on national stages with national bands and artists, our music played on the radio, having our music available on jukeboxes around the country, or having our music played internationally on a Netflix series. I would even say pride in our music is when a fan makes it a point to tell us how much they love our music or one just one particular song. Even with all the recognition, accomplishments and accolades Hope Darling has received already we know the best is yet to come.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
HD: Our new album is set to be digitally released on September 1, 2022 on all major music platforms. Even though we are focused on promoting this new album we are already writing music for the next album.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
HD: We will have our new album digitally released on September 1, 2022 and will be available on most if not all major streaming platforms like Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music, Deezer, iHeartRadio and so on. Keep an eye and ear out for it!
