Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
HS: We are a Hard Rock band from Bolton, UK.
PD:Tell us the brief history of yourself.
HS: Jack and Aiden are brothers, Dylan is their cousin, and Sheldon is now an honourary member of the family! Prior to HS, Jack, Aiden and Dylan have all been in different bands together, as well as their own individual bands. Jack and Aiden were in a band called Faith in Glory which got the attention of Sheldon, once FiG broke up, Jack wanted to carry on creating music so he asked Sheldon and Dylan if they would like to jam together and see how it sounded. They realised they liked the direction the band was going in as a 3 piece, they gigged together for a brief period of time until they realised they wanted a 4th member. Aiden, who had come to a few gigs already, really liked our soon to be released single ‘Strangers’ and made a point of missing being in a band and gigging, so with Aiden’s main instrument being the Bass, we decided to give him 2 extra strings and now he’s a guitarist.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
Jack – Parents for both
Aiden – While She Sleeps and my family
Dylan – Decade and my Nan.
Sheldon – Killswitch Engage and the X-Men.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
HS: Share our stories with the world and have fun doing it.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
HS: It’s a mix between Jack and Sheldon. Jack writes all of our lyrics and uses his emotions and experiences to influence his writing, and then both of them write the music either together or separately and bring them to the band to finalise the songs.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
HS: We usually use social media to promote the band and radio interviews, for ‘Strangers’ decided we would get some external help with the release, so we contacted SaN PR for a press release campaign.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
HS: It’s a really accessible way to get our music out there for people to hear it, but can’t bet feeling of open up the packaging to a physicals copy.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
HS: As a collective, we would probably say ‘Right Now’ by Fire From The Gods. Mainly because the song has a very powerful message and it was written very well.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves.
HS: The biggest pet peeves as a band we have is disorganisation, people who lie and say they don’t like Nickelback, losing at pool because of TRICK SHOT BLACK!!! (Aiden’s stupid rule)
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
Jack: Singing our song ‘Oceans’ at our Headline gig at The Met in Bury and hearing the audience sing it back to me, even people we hadn’t seen before at gigs.
Aiden: Mine would have to be a mix between opening a show for While She Sleeps and touring the UK with ex Iron Maiden vocalist Blaze Bayley.
Sheldon: Getting to assist Colin Richardson and Chris Clancy on the Kill the Lights album.
Dylan: Seeing people we’ve never met enjoying our music!
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
HS: We are using the next few months to create more music and hopefully reschedule the gigs from last year. We have new merch on our Bandcamp page and follow all of our socials for updates on the single release!
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
HS: As of now we have 3 demo tracks released on our SoundCloud page, ‘Oceans’, ‘Mirage’ and ‘Hold On’. Our first proper release will be ‘Strangers’ which will be released on 26th Feb on all major streaming platforms.
