Hive mentality announce new single ‘Holly Hobby/Ski Mask’ due on 17th April
Hive Mentality announce new single ‘Holly Hobby/Ski Mask’, their first new music release since July 2019. The track will be released on all major music streaming/downloading platforms. Coinciding with the release the band is having a single release gig (postponed due to coronavirus).
‘Holly Hobby/Ski Mask’ is the yin and yang of a brooding ballad followed by a paranoid belter, with themes such as urban angst and Halloween. The sound mixes early post-punk and goth (think Joy Division) with lo-fi punk and shoegaze (think My Bloody Valentine and Cult Dreams). Though written before the band properly formed, this single has been highly anticipated, well-known as a riotous live staple at their gigs.
The post-punk London based band formed in 2018 and has since played a number of local gigs and released an EP in 2019. Already they have attracted press from The Zine UK as well as played iconic venues in London such as Camden Assembly, The Water Rats and The Windmill Brixton. Their main influences include The Clash, The White Stripes, Indoor Pets, and Culture Abuse, however their singles all have different influences ranging from Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine, to Killing Joke and Chic. It may be having such an eclectic range of inspiration that has helped the group find their unique sound and stir up audiences. It seems only a matter of time before they hit even bigger stages.
